Journey To The Source (ehemals Fuasi und Ensemble), ein Jazz-Quartett, das seit seiner Gründung 1995 in und um Deutschland, Polen, Spanien, der Schweiz, Portugal und Frankreich auftritt. Die Gruppe setzt sich aus Musikern amerikanischer (USA) und europäischer Herkunft zusammen. Gemeinsam haben sie einen einzigartigen Sound geschaffen, der von den ersten Tönen an zu erkennen ist. In ihrer Musik finden sich Einflüsse aus "Blues", "Hard Bop", "Eastern", "African" und "Funk", die eine Musik voller Geist, Tiefe und Energie schaffen. Die CDs "Fuasi & Ensemble", "Fuasimodo Rings A Bell", "Fuasi & Ensemble Live at Café Central in Madrid Spain" und "The Afro-Cubano Latin Jazz Connection", die alle von ihren "Live"-Auftritten stammen, sind der Beweis dafür, dass es sich lohnt, diese Gruppe Live and in Living Color zu hören.

Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq spielt Saxophon, Klarinette, Flöte und Schlagzeug. Er stammt aus Los Angeles, Kalifornien, wo er in der U.G.M.A.A. Foundation (Union of God's Musicians and Artist Ascension) bei Horace Tapscott and the Pan-African Peoples Arkestra" Komposition, Arrangement und Performance studierte.

Rolf Zielke wurde 1964 in Hameln, Deutschland, geboren. Rolf Zielke arbeitete mit Charlie Mariano, Thomas Quasthoff, Mike Stern, Hendrik Meurkens, David Friedman. Tourneen: USA (New York, Florida, Washington DC), Afrika (Algerien, Kamerun), Asien (China, Türkei, Aserbaidschan, Jordanien, Irak) und in 15 europäischen Ländern (Konzerte in London, Madrid, Zürich, Rom, Warschau, St. Petersburg, Istanbul). Rolf Zielke unterrichtet am Jazz-Institut Berlin.

Kenny Martin aus New York, New York, der an der Berkley School of Music in Boston und bei Größen wie Tony Williams, Jack DeJonette, Billy Cobham und Narada Michael Walden studierte. Kenny Martin ist bekannt dafür, dass er 13 Jahre lang der Original-Schlagzeuger der weltberühmten Gruppe "Defunkt" war. Außerdem tourte er und machte Aufnahmen mit "Liquid Hips", Bill Bickfords "Bigfood", Bob Singletons "Golden Gospel Singers", "Sharifa and WordSong" und mit Ramesh Weeratungas "Electric Rama".

Maximilian Hughes wurde in eine musikalische Familie hineingeboren, und da er schon in jungen Jahren ermutigt wurde, Musik zu lernen, begann er mit 6 Jahren in einem Chor zu singen und mit 8 Jahren Klarinette zu spielen. 15-jährig entschied er sich schließlich für den E-Bass als sein Hauptinstrument. Seitdem spielt er eine Vielzahl von Stilen und lässt diese Elemente in seine Spielweise einfließen. Sein Studium am Berklee College of Music schloss er mit "Cum Laude" und einem Bachelor of Arts in Musik ab. Max hat bei vielen Projekten und Aufnahmen anderer Künstler und Gruppen mitgewirkt, darunter: Chaka Khan, John-Paul Bourelly, Wolfgang Dauner, Roland Gebhardt, Fuasi-Abdul Khaliq, Jocelyn B. Smith, und Ack van Rooyen. Zurzeit lebt er in Berlin und unterrichtet am Jazz Institut Berlin (JIB) und ist Autor des Buches "Find Your Individual Way": Finde deinen individuellen Weg, "Kreativer Solobass", erschienen im AMA Verlag GmbH, Brühl

Journey To The Source (formerly Fuasi and Ensemble), a Jazz quartet which has been performing in and around Germany, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal and France since it's founding in 1995. The group is composed of musicians from American(USA) and European origins. Together they have created a unique sound which is identifiable from the first notes they play. Their music comes from the influences of "Blues", "Hard Bop", "Eastern", "African" and "Funk" which creates a music full of spirit, depth and energy. The CDs "Fuasi & Ensemble ", "Fuasimodo Rings A Bell“ , "Fuasi & Ensemble Live at Café Central in Madrid Spain" and “The Afro-Cubano Latin Jazz Connection” , all from their "live" performances, are proof that this group is worth listening to "Live and in Living Color „. The latest CD, “The Abakuá” is the first CD production in the last 5 CD productions that the group has recorded in a proper studio setting.

Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq plays saxophone, clarinet, flute and percussion. He comes from Los Angeles, California where he studied composition, arranging and performance in the U.G.M.A.A. Kenny Martin from New York, New York who studied at the Berkley School of Music in Boston and with such greats as Tony Williams, Jack DeJonette, Billy Cobham , and Narada Michael Walden . At 15 he eventually settled on the Electric Bass as his main instrument. Since then he has been playing an assortment of styles and incorporates these elements into his approach of playing. He graduated "Cum Laude" with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Berklee College of Music. Max has guested on many projects and recordings by other performers and groups, including: Chaka Khan, John-Paul Bourelly, Wolfgang Dauner, Roland Gebhardt, Fuasi-Abdul Khaliq, Jocelyn B.Smith, and Ack van Rooyen.
