Sundays at the Zig Zag is the closest you will get to the atmosphere, energy and ambience of the New York Jazz revolution taking place in the 30´s- 50´s. The evening features mainly young, talented jazz musicians who have contributed to the jazz boom in Berlin over the past decade. It’s intended for those of you who can appreciate the rare and fine quality of purely acoustic and unamplified music. You'll feel like you're sharing the stage with musicians who include some of the city's best and finest award-winning young talents!

Dieses relativ neue Trio hat sich Ende 2020 gegründet. Sie haben sich in der Berliner Jazzszene kennengelernt und alle teilen die Liebe zum gleichen Musikstil.
Kontrabassistin und Bandleaderin Roz Macdonald kommt ursprünglich aus Schottland und lebt und etabliert sich seit 2017 als Musikerin in Berlin.
Roz studierte Jazz am Leeds College of Music, wo sie nach ihrem Abschluss im Jahr 2016 das Yamaha Jazz Stipendium für herausragende Musiker erhielt. Seitdem hat sie in ganz Europa mit einigen der renommiertesten Jazzmusikern der Welt gespielt, darunter Scott Hamilton, Bruce Barth, Perico Sambeat und Zoe Rahman. Roz erhielt im November 2020 das Stipendium des „Musikfonds Neustart Kultur“, das dazu führte, dass sie ihr Debütalbum mit Originalmusik für diese Band schrieb, das im Sommer 2021 aufgenommen wurde und noch in diesem Jahr veröffentlicht wird.
Béla Meinberg lebt in Berlin und balanciert zwischen Straight Ahead, Freier Improvisation und diversen anderen Stilen. Die Idee, ernste Musik mit einem gewissen Anteil Quatsch produzieren zu können, trieb ihn dazu, sich früh für den Beruf des Jazzmusikers zu entscheiden. Béla durfte bereits mit großartigen Musikern arbeiten, wie zum Beispiel: Billy Hart, Seamus Blake, Matt Penman, Chris Cheek, Doug Weiss oder John Stowell.
Jordan Dinsdale ist ein englischer Jazzmusiker aus der nordenglischen Stadt Bradford, der heute in Berlin lebt. Jordan hat bei einigen der größten Lehrer dieser Musik studiert, allen voran Jimmy Cobb. Seit seinem Umzug nach Berlin hat Jordan mit Greg Cohen und Declan Forde ein Trio-Debütalbum FORDE/COHEN/DINSDALE aufgenommen. Jordan und Béla sind Mitglieder der Band Doug Weiss Berlin, einem Quartett, das demnächst sein Debütalbum veröffentlichen wird.

ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes this evening so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. We inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
