Amoy Ribas ist eine musikalische Naturgewalt und als solche ohne Zweifel in der obersten Liga der brasilianischen Musik zuhause. Mit seinem neuen Projekt verbindet das Percussion-Genie afro-brasilianische, indigene Klänge und Rhythmen mit Elektronik und Immersion. Ein einzigartiges Live-Erlebnis!

Ribas wurde in der Hauptstadt Brasiliens, in Brasilia geboren und interessierte sich seit frühester Jugend für Musik. Bis heute beeinflusst von Jazz, Samba, Baiao und vielen anderen Stilistiken vermischt er Musikrichtungen und Techniken verschiedenster Couleur und transzendiert die Percussionsinstrumente von ihrer Funktion als reines Rhythmusinstrument. Nicht umsonst nannte ihn der große Hermeto Pascoal “einen der besten Percussionisten weltweit.” Ein größeres Kompliment kann es wohl nicht geben. Ribas spielte neben Pascoal auch noch mit MusikerInnen wie Richard Galliano, Rolf Kühn, Joyce, Marco Pereira, Guinga, Hamilton de Holanda, Billy Blanco, Beth Carvalho, Leila Pinheiro, Joyce, Paulinho Moska und Gilson Peranzzetta.

Tino Derado: Professor an der HfMH und am Jazz-Institut Berlin. Er lebte für 14 Jahre in New York City und war dort ein aktives Mitglied der lokalen Jazzszene. Sein Portfolio beinhaltet Zusammenarbeiten mit Jamey Haddad, Gary Burton, Peter Erskine, Richard Bona, Andy Gonzalez und vielen mehr. Er ist einer der vielseitigsten und kompetentesten in Deutschland lebenden Pianisten.

Kuba Gudz begann mit vier Jahren Musik zu machen. 2011 zog er nach Berlin, um am Jazz Institut Berlin bei John Hollenbeck zu studieren und schloss 2016 mit einem Bachelor in Jazz ab. In Berlin ist er bekannt als Mitglied der Urban Base Community, einem Kollektiv um den Grammy-nominierten Pianisten Joel Holmes. Mit diesem Trio, u.a. mit Martin Buhl, trat er auch als "Green House Expansion" mit dem New Yorker Rapper Stimulus auf. Aktuell spielt er im Joel Holmes Trio, u.a. auf dem Off Tanjazz Festival in Marokko. Neben seiner Konzerttätigkeit unterrichtet Gudz seit seinem Abschluss Schlagzeug und Klavier, seit 2019 an der Hans-Werner-Henze Musikschule Berlin.

Amoy Ribas is a musical force of nature and, as such, undoubtedly belongs to the top league of Brazilian music. With his new project, this percussion genius combines Afro-Brazilian and indigenous sounds and rhythms with electronics and immersive elements — a unique live experience!

Ribas was born in Brazil's capital, Brasília, and has been passionate about music from an early age. To this day, influenced by jazz, samba, baião, and many other styles, he mixes genres and techniques of all kinds, transcending percussion instruments beyond their function as mere rhythm instruments.

It is no coincidence that the great Hermeto Pascoal called him "one of the best percussionists in the world." There can hardly be a greater compliment.

In addition to playing with Pascoal, Ribas has performed with artists such as Richard Galliano, Rolf Kühn, Joyce, Marco Pereira, Guinga, Hamilton de Holanda, Billy Blanco, Beth Carvalho, Leila Pinheiro, Paulinho Moska, and Gilson Peranzzetta.

Kuba Gudz, born in 1992 in Poznań, Poland, started playing music at age 4. In 2011, he moved to Berlin to study at the Jazz Institut Berlin under John Hollenbeck and graduated with a Jazz Bachelor in 2016. In Berlin, he’s known as a member of the Urban Base Community led by Grammy-nominated pianist Joel Holmes. Together with bassist Martin Buhl, they performed as "Green House Expansion" with NY rapper Stimulus and now play as Joel Holmes Trio, including at Morocco’s Off Tanjazz Festival. Besides performing, Gudz teaches drums and piano, since 2019 at the Hans-Werner-Henze Musikschule in Berlin.
