Mit dem Spiral Trio dürfen wir zum ersten Mal eine der prägendsten Formationen der griechischen Modern-Jazz-Szene willkommen heißen. Gegründet im Jahre 2012 hat das interaktive Piano-Trio im Geiste von Bill Evans eine steile Karriere bis in die internationale Spitze des Jazz hingelegt. Die drei Ausnahmekünstler bewegen sich tief verwurzelt in der Jazztradition mit atemberaubender Leichtigkeit und beeindruckendem Einfühlungsvermögen durch das Standardrepertoire und ihre kreativen Eigenkompositionen. Hauptaugenmerk ist das Interplay, die kontinuierliche und improvisatorische Interaktion, das die drei zu absolut gleichberechtigten Akteuren auf der Bühne oder im Studio macht.

Mit seiner bemerkenswerten Musikalität, die immer dann zum Ausdruck kommt, wenn er komponiert oder improvisiert, ist der Pianist Spyros Manesis bereits eine dominierende Figur in der griechischen und aktiven europäischen Jazzszene. Er studierte klassisches und Jazz-Klavier am Athenaeum-Konservatorium und erwarb seinen Bachelor und Master für Jazz-Klavier am renommierten Konservatorium von Amsterdam. Unter seinen Mitstreitern sind sehr wichtige Namen der griechischen und internationalen Musikszene zu finden, wie Dean Bowman, Olivier Gatto, Laurent Maur, Gilad Hekselman, JD Walter, Marc Abrams, Bodek Janke, Max Pollak, Heather Cornell, Joao Firmino, Joana Espadinha, Pablo Reyes, Christine Corvisier, Dimitra Galani, Savina Yannatou und Christos Rafalides.

Der 1995 in Kalamata geborene Arianos Gyftakis begann seine musikalische Reise auf der Violine. Nach wenigen Jahren wechselte er erst zur Bassgitarre um sich dann mit 14 Jahren dem Kontrabass und dem Jazz zu widmen. Sein Musikalität und seine Fähigkeiten ermöglichten ihm ein Stipendium am weltberühmten Berklee College of Music, wo er unter anderem beim großen Eddie Gomez studierte. Der aufstrebende junge Bassist gilt als einer der Hoffnungsträger der griechischen Szene und spielt regelmäßig auf europäischen Bühnen und darüber hinaus.

Last but not least ist Anastasis Gouliaris wohl einer der aufstrebendsten jungen griechischen Jazzdrummer. Seine musikalischen Wurzeln liegen in der urbanen Musikszene Athens; zum Jazz kam er über Tom Waits. Inzwischen ist er vielbeschäftigter Sideman, Komponist und Pädagoge und besticht durch sein Einfühlungsvermögen und musikalische Übersicht.

With the Spiral Trio we are proud to welcome for the first time one of the most influential formations of the Greek modern jazz scene. Founded in 2012, the interactive piano trio in the spirit of Bill Evans has had a stellar career reaching the international pinnacle of jazz. Deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, the three exceptional artists move through the standard repertoire and their creative original compositions with breathtaking ease and impressive sensitivity. The main focus is the interplay, the continuous and improvisational interaction, which makes the three of them absolutely equal players on stage or in the studio.

With his remarkable musicality, expressed whenever he composes or improvises, pianist Spyros Manesis is already a dominant figure in the Greek and active European jazz scene. He studied classical and jazz piano at the Athenaeum Conservatory and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz piano at the prestigious Amsterdam Conservatory. Among his collaborators are very important names of the Greek and international music scene, such as Dean Bowman, Olivier Gatto, Laurent Maur, Gilad Hekselman, JD Walter, Marc Abrams, Bodek Janke, Max Pollak, Heather Cornell, Joao Firmino, Joana Espadinha, Pablo Reyes, Christine Corvisier, Dimitra Galani, Savina Yannatou and Christos Rafalides.

Born in Kalamata in 1995, Arianos Gyftakis began his musical journey on the violin. After a few years, he first switched to the bass guitar and then, at the age of 14, dedicated himself to the double bass and jazz. His musicality and skills enabled him to receive a scholarship to the world-famous Berklee College of Music, where he studied with the great Eddie Gomez, among others. The up-and-coming young bassist is considered one of the hopefuls of the Greek scene and plays regularly on European stages and beyond.

Last but not least, Anastasis Gouliaris is probably one of the most up-and-coming young Greek jazz drummers. His musical roots lie in the urban music scene of Athens; he came to jazz via Tom Waits. Meanwhile he is a busy sideman, composer and educator and impresses with his empathy and musical overview.
