Das Ant Law & Alex Hitchbock Quartet, auch bekannt als Same Moon In The Same World ist das gemeinsame Projekt von zwei Protagonisten der UK-Jazzszene, dem Gitarristen Ant Law, welcher von The Guardian als "Game Changer" und "Innovator" bezeichnet wurde, und von dem Tenoristen Alex Hitchcock ("ein unglaublicher Saxophonist, der etwas sehr Einzigartiges und Originelles zu sagen hat" - Walter Smith III). Auf ihrem während der Pandemie entstandenen gemeinsamen Album luden sie internationale Gäste ein, darunter Joel Ross, Eric Harland, Linda Oh, Kendrick Scott und Shai Maestro. Mit Stücken ihres bald erscheinenden zweiten Albums im Gepäck und in einer erstklassigen Besetzung, ergänzt um den Deutschen Kontra- und E-Bassisten Niklas Lukassen und die Französisch-Brasilianische Schlagzeugerin Ananda Brandao, beschreiten Ant Law und Alex Hitchcock neue Wege auf ihrer UK- und Deutschlandtour.

Ant Law ist ein britischer Jazzgitarrist, der zu den innovativsten und originellsten Stimmen seiner Generation gezählt wird. In der Kindheit eher an Rockmusik orientiert, studierte er später an der Edinburgh University und dem Berklee College of Music. Seit den 2000ern hat sich in der britischen und europäischen Szene zu einem der wichtigsten Gitarristen und Jazzmusikern im Allgemeinen entwickelt. Er tourte und machte Aufnahmen mit europäischen Topmusikern und -musikerinnen wie Marc Michel, Tim Garland oder Senkrechtstarterin Emma Rawicz. Darüber hinaus ist er Autor des innovativen Lehrbuchs 3rd Millennium Guitar: An Introduction to Perfect 4th Tuning. Law lebt in London.

Alex Hitchcock ist einer der derzeit angesagtesten und prägendsten Saxophonisten, Komponisten und Bandleader der UK-Jazzszene. Seit den 2010er Jahren ist er aus der Jazzwelt kaum wegzudenken und wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet. 2023 kam sein Album "Dream Band Series II" auf die Must-Have-Liste von All About Jazz. Des weiteren spielte er mit Koryphäen wie Stan Sulzmann, Chris Cheek, der BBC Bigband und Earl Mobilee.

Niklas Lukassen ist ein preisgekrönter Bassist und Komponist aus Süddeutschland. Schon früh entdeckte er seine Leidenschaft für den Bass und insbesondere für die Improvisation. Mit 16 Jahren zog er nach Berlin, um am Jazz-Institut zu studieren. Eine prägende Phase seiner Karriere verbrachte er in New York, wo er mehrere Jahre lebte und mit einem Vollstipendium seinen Master am Manhattan School of Music bei Ron Carter absolvierte. Um innovative Konzepte des Bassspiels weiter zu erforschen, verfolgt er heute als Performance-Researcher ein Doktoratsstudium an der Royal Academy of Music in London. Lukassen bewegt sich in unterschiedlichsten musikalischen Welten und hatte das Privileg, mit Größen wie Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Stern, Jorge Rossy, Oz Noy, Will Vinson, Jo Lawry und zuletzt Norma Winstone & Gwilym Simcock aufzutreten. Neben seiner Rolle als Bassist erweitert er sein künstlerisches Spektrum durch einen raffinierten Kompositionsstil sowie seinen markanten Gesang.

Die halb brasilianische, halb französische Schlagzeugerin Ananda Brandão ist ein Star der Pariser Jazzszene und hat sich als eine der aufregendsten Musikerinnen der Stadt etabliert. Nach ihrem Jazz-Diplom am Conservatoire de Versailles studierte sie am Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood. Anschließend absolvierte sie ihren Master an der renommierten Royal Academy of Music in London. Kürzlich wurde sie mit der Silver Medal 2024 der Musician’s Company ausgezeichnet und gewann den 1. Preis des Rezzo-Wettbewerbs von Jazz à Vienne. Ihre brasilianischen Wurzeln prägen ihren einzigartigen Latin-amerikanisch inspirierten Stil, während ihre Vielseitigkeit es ihr ermöglicht, sowohl mit israelischen Jazzbands als auch in der Rockszene aufzutreten – unter anderem bei den regelmäßigen Rocknächten im legendären Supersonic in Paris.

Same Moon In The Same World is the collaborative project of two leading figures in the UK jazz scene: guitarist Ant Law, hailed by The Guardian as a "game changer" and "innovator", and tenor saxophonist Alex Hitchcock, whom Walter Smith III praised as "an incredible saxophonist with something very unique and original to say." Their debut album, recorded during the pandemic, featured an impressive lineup of international guests, including Joel Ross, Eric Harland, Linda Oh, Kendrick Scott, and Shai Maestro. Now, with music from their highly anticipated second album and an outstanding new lineup, the band embarks on a UK and Germany tour, joined by German bassist Niklas Lukassen (on both double and electric bass) and French-Brazilian drummer Ananda Brandão. Exploring new musical landscapes, Law and Hitchcock continue to push boundaries, delivering a fresh and innovative take on modern jazz.

Ant Law is a British jazz guitarist recognized as one of the most innovative and original voices of his generation. Initially drawn to rock music in his youth, he later studied at Edinburgh University and Berklee College of Music. Since the 2000s, Law has become one of the most influential guitarists in the UK and European jazz scene. He has toured and recorded with top European musicians such as Marc Michel, Tim Garland, and rising star Emma Rawicz. Beyond his performing career, Law is also an author, having written the groundbreaking instructional book 3rd Millennium Guitar: An Introduction to Perfect 4th Tuning. He is currently based in London.

Alex Hitchcock is one of the most exciting and influential saxophonists, composers, and bandleaders in the UK jazz scene today. Since the 2010s, he has been an integral part of the jazz world and has received multiple awards.In 2023, his album "Dream Band Series II" was listed as a must-have by All About Jazz. In addition, he has performed with legends such as Stan Sulzmann, Chris Cheek, the BBC Big Band, and Earl Mobilee.

Niklas Lukassen is an award winning bassist and composer from South Germany. Soon after discovering his love for the bass and particularly improvisation, he moved to Berlin, aged 16, to study at the Jazz Institute. A formative part of his career lies in New York where he lived for several years and obtained a Masters’s Degree from Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship under the mentorship of Ron Carter. To further explore innovative bass playing concepts, he today pursues his doctoral degree as a practice performance researcher at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Immersed in contrasting musical worlds, he has had the privilege of accompanying performances with luminaries such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Stern, Jorge Rossy, Oz Noy, Will Vinson, Jo Lawry and most recently Norma Winstone & Gwilym Simcock. Furthermore, Lukassen expands beyond his position as a bass playing sideman through a refined composition style  and also his singing voice.

The half-Brazilian, half-French drummer Ananda Brandão is a star of the Paris jazz scene and has established herself as one of the city's most exciting musicians. After completing her jazz diploma at the Conservatoire de Versailles, she studied at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood and later earned her master's degree at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London. Recently, she was awarded the Silver Medal 2024 by the Musician’s Company and won the 1st prize in the Rezzo competition at Jazz à Vienne. Her Brazilian roots shape her unique Latin-American-inspired style, while her versatility allows her to perform with Israeli jazz bands as well as in the rock scene—including regular rock nights at the legendary Supersonic in Paris.
