Die franko-algerische Sängerin, Cellistin und Songwriterin Nesrine ist eine moderne ‚Scheherazade‘, eine Geschichtenerzählerin unserer Zeit. Und ihr Album „Kan Ya Makan“, arabisch für „es war einmal“ so
etwas wie eine moderne Geschichtensammlung aus tausendundeiner Nacht. Die britische TIMES nennt Nesrine „ein leuchtendes, multilinguales Talent“, die SZ konstatiert: „Nesrine demonstriert, welche Schön heit aus Freiheit entstehen kann.“ Ihre Songs in arabischer, französischer und englischer Sprache sind die Essenz einer bewegten persönlichen Biografie - zwischen Algerien, dem Herkunftsland ihrer Familie, und ihrer aktuellen Heimat Paris. Auch sind Nesrines kunstvolle, facettenreiche Songs das Spiegelbild ihrer vielfältigen musikalischen Laufbahn: Sie spielte als klassische Cellistin unter anderem in Daniel Barenboims East-Western Divan Orchestra und im Orchester der Oper von Valencia unter
Lorin Maazel und trat als Gaststar mit dem Cirque de Soleil. Die Sicherheit einer Karriere als klassische Orchestermusikerin gab sie zugunsten ihrer Solo-Laufbahn auf – mit Erfolg: Sie spielt regelmäßig in Philharmonien, Konzertsälen und auf Festivals in ganz Europa und den USA und veröffentlichte bislang zwei international vielbeachtete Alben auf ACT. Anfang 2024 erschien zudem eine digitale EP, bei der Nesrine ihre Musik gemeinsam mit dem weltberühmten Metropol Orkest spielt.

The Franco-Algerian singer, cellist, and songwriter Nesrine is a modern-day Scheherazade—a storyteller of our time. Her album Kan Ya Makan, Arabic for “Once upon a time,” is like a contemporary collection of tales from One Thousand and One Nights.

The British Times hails Nesrine as a "radiant, multilingual talent," while Germany’s Süddeutsche Zeitung states, "Nesrine demonstrates the beauty that can arise from freedom." Her songs, performed in Arabic, French, and English, are a reflection of her personal journey—rooted in her Algerian heritage and shaped by her life in Paris.

Nesrine’s rich and intricate sound mirrors her diverse musical background. As a classically trained cellist, she has performed with Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and the Valencia Opera Orchestra under Lorin Maazel. She has also taken the stage as a guest performer with the Cirque du Soleil.

Despite a promising career in classical orchestras, she chose to follow her solo path—a decision that has led to great success. She now performs regularly in philharmonic halls, concert venues, and festivals across Europe and the U.S. and has released two internationally acclaimed albums on ACT Music. In early 2024, she also released a digital EPfeaturing her music performed alongside the world-renowned Metropole Orkest.
