Die Songs aus den Broadway-Musicals der 20er und 30er Jahre bilden die Grundlage für die "Standards", das allgemeine Repertoire im Jazz bis heute. Selbstverständlich haben sich diese Songs über die Jahrzehnte verändert und wurden teilweise in dutzenden verschiedenen Arrangements aufgenommen. Dieser Konzertabend im ZigZag ist der ursprünglichen Form der Standards gewidmet. Denn soviel Schönes ihnen bis heute hinzugefügt wurde, soviel Schönes an Ihnen wird heute auch vergessen.

Béla Meinberg ist ein deutscher Pianist, der in Berlin und Hamburg lebt. Er konnte bereits mit zahlreichen Größen des Jazz arbeiten, darunter: Billy Hart, Seamus Blake, Doug Weiss, Matt Penman, Chris Cheek und Mike Moreno. Sein Spiel zeichnet sich durch eine starke Prägung seitens der Tradition, „always swinging and with a good sense of humour“, aber genauso durch freie Improvisation und Einflüsse aus Modern Jazz oder Impressionismus aus. Mit dem Trio MMO veröffentlichte Béla das Album „MMO feat. Chris Cheek – the hiker“. Das Béla Meinberg Trio veröffentlichte 2020 sein Debütalbum „It´s a Game“ und 2022 das zweite Album „Akkolo“ bei Fattoria Mausic Records. Béla war Stipendiat der Oscar und Vera Ritter-Stiftung und Gewinner des ersten Steinway-Förderpreises für Jazzklavier-Solo. 2017 gewann er den dritten Platz beim Yamaha Jazz Piano Wettbewerb in Nürnberg. Ignaz Dinne ist ein deutscher Saxophonist. Nach einem Stipendium für das Berklee College of Music 1994 blieb er in den Vereinigten Staaten und gründete ein eigenes Quartett, mit dem er kontinuierlich tourte und mit Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Watson und Slide Hampton auftrat. Von 1995 bis 1997 studierte er am Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz in Boston weiter; er ging 1996 mit dem Ensemble des Instituts auf eine Konzerttournee durch Indien und Thailand mit den Gastsolisten Herbie Hancock und Wayne Shorter. 1998 zog er nach New York City und arbeitete mit Musikern wie Clark Terry oder Jimmy Heath. 2004 zog er nach Berlin und arbeitet weiter mit New Yorker sowie europäischen Bands.

Vorstellungsvermögen und Ehrlichkeit zeichnen den in Hartford, Connecticut geborenen Bassisten Matthew Adomeit aus. Sowohl mit seinem breiten musikalischem Spektrum als auch der völligen Kontrolle über den Kontrabass treibt er die Band an. Von seinem Wahlheimat Berlin aus strebt der 1990 geborene Adomeit, Absolvent des „Oberlin College“ und des „Oberlin Conservatory of Music“, zu neuen Horizonten.

Ugo Alunni ist ein Schlagzeuger aus Perugia, Italien. Er besuchte das Conservatorio di Musica "Francesco Morlacchi" di Perugia (2000-2004) und zog dann nach New York, um an der Collective School of Music weiter zu studieren (2005-2006). Seit 2010 lebt er in Berlin, wo er am Jazz Institut Berlin unter der Leitung von John Hollenbeck, Greg Cohen, Kurt Rosenwinkel und David Friedman studierte und 2016 seinen Abschluss machte. Er hat mit Rossano Emili, dem Perugia Jazz Orchestra, Pietro Tonolo, Joe Chambers, Alessandro Lanzoni, Elias Stemeseder, Marcin Masecki, Tarek Yamani und vielen anderen gespielt.

The songs from the Broadway musicals of the 20s and 30s form the basis for the "standards," the general repertoire in jazz to this day. Of course, these songs have changed over the decades and some have been recorded in dozens of different arrangements. This concert evening at ZigZag is dedicated to the original form of the standards.

His playing is characterized by a strong imprint from the tradition, "always swinging and with a good sense of humor", but equally by free improvisation and influences from modern jazz or impressionism. With the trio MMO Béla released the album "MMO feat. Chris Cheek - the hiker". Béla Meinberg Trio released his debut album "It's a Game" in 2020 and the second album "Akkolo" in 2022 on Fattoria Mausic Records. Béla was a scholarship recipient of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation and winner of the first Steinway Promotional Prize for jazz piano solo. Ignaz Dinne is a German saxophonist. After receiving a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in 1994, he stayed in the United States and formed his own quartet with which he toured continuously and performed with Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Watson and Slide Hampton. He continued his studies at the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz in Boston from 1995 to 1997; he went on a concert tour of India and Thailand with the Institute's ensemble in 1996, with guest soloists Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. In 1998 he moved to New York City and worked with musicians such as Clark Terry and Jimmy Heath. In 2004 he moved to Berlin and continues to work with New York as well as European bands.

Imagination and honesty are the hallmarks of Hartford, Connecticut-born bassist Matthew Adomeit. With both his broad musical range and complete control of the double bass, he drives the band. From his adopted home in Berlin, Adomeit, born in 1990 and a graduate of "Oberlin College" and the "Oberlin Conservatory of Music", strives for new horizons.

Ugo Alunni is a percussionist from Perugia, Italy.
