Antonio Farao, der zu den Top-Notch-Pianisten der internationalen Jazzwelt zählt, besucht gemeinsam mit John Patitucci und Gene Jackson, zwei Musikern, die wohl kaum einer Vorstellung bedürfen den ZigZag! Jüngst in den Katalog des legendären Criss-Cross-Labels aufgenommen, präsentiert das Trio Faraòs neues Album Tributes. Post-Bop-Fans sollten sich dieses hoch-energetische, von schwindelerregender Virtuosität und erlesener Musikalität durchdrungene Trio unter keinen Umständen entgehen lassen!

Antonio Faraò ist ein italiensicher Jazzpianist, der zur Weltspitze seiner Zunft gehört. Der gebürtige Römer studierte in Mailand klassisches Klavier und trat bereits als Jugendlicher auf internationalen Festivals auf und gewann zahlreiche Preise. Bereits sein Debutalbum (mit Ira Coleman und Jeff Tain Watts sorgte für Furore. Es folgten zahlreiche weitere Alben, an denen Stars wie Chris Potter, Jack DeJohnette, Bob Berg, Joe Lovano, Darryl Hall, Marcus Miller, Biréli Lagrène und sogar Snoop Dogg partizipierten. Faraò sticht dabei durch seinen hochenergetischen und einzigartigen Stil, irgendwie zwischen Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner und Bill Evans hervor, der von tiefer Musikalität und Sensibilität, aber auch von atemberaubender Wucht und Virtuosität geprägt ist. Als Sideman arbeitete er neben den oben Genannten außerdem mit Branford Marsalis, Billy Cobham, Lee Konitz und vielen mehr.

John Patitucci gehört jetzt schon zu den größten Bassisten der Jazzgeschichte. Der in New York geborene E- wie Kontrabassist studierte auf der anderen Seite des amerikanischen Kontinents und machte schon sehr früh auf sich aufmerksam. Seit den 1980ern ist er eine feste Größe in der Szene und hat seitdem mit den größten Namen der Jazzwelt gespielt: Er war jahrelang Mitglied in Chick Coreas Bands, spielte mit Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Roy Haynes, Branford Marsalis, Chris Potter, Brad Mehldau, Horacio Hernandez, Gary Burton, Vinnie Colaiuta, Adam Rogers und unzähligen mehr. In den letzten Jahren eine seiner wichtigsten Stationen das Quartett um den kürzlich verstorbenen Wayne Shorter, zusammen mit Danilo Perez und Brian Blade, das inzwischen schon zu einer der wichtigsten Bands der Jazzgeschichte zählt. Er wurde unzählige Male von verschiedensten Institutionen und Magazinen als bester Bassist ausgezeichnet wurde dreimal mit dem Grammy prämiert und über 15mal nominiert.

Gene Jackson ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Schlagzeuger. Er studierte am Berklee College und spielte mit Herbie Hancock, der Mingus Big Band und zahlreichen Jazzgrößen wie Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride und Terence Blanchard. Seit 1999 arbeitet er auch mit europäischen Musikern, darunter die NDR Big Band und Christof Lauer. Derzeit (2018) ist er Mitglied des New York Standards Quartet. Neben seiner Karriere als Musiker unterrichtet er an der Aaron Copland School of Music in New York.

Antonio Faraò is an Italian jazz pianist who ranks among the world’s finest. Born in Rome, he studied classical piano in Milan and, as a teenager, was already performing at international festivals and winning numerous awards. His debut album, recorded with Ira Coleman and Jeff "Tain" Watts, created a sensation, followed by many more releases featuring stars like Chris Potter, Jack DeJohnette, Bob Berg, Joe Lovano, Darryl Hall, Marcus Miller, Biréli Lagrène, and even Snoop Dogg. Faraò’s distinctive style—somewhere between Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Bill Evans—is characterized by deep musicality, sensitivity, and breathtaking power and virtuosity. As a sideman, he has also worked with Branford Marsalis, Billy Cobham, Lee Konitz, and many more.

John Patitucci is already one of the greatest bassists in jazz history. Born in New York, the electric and double bass player studied on the other side of the American continent and attracted attention very early on. He has been a fixture on the scene since the 1980s and has since played with the biggest names in the jazz world: He was a member of Chick Corea's bands for years, played with Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Roy Haynes, Branford Marsalis, Chris Potter, Brad Mehldau, Horacio Hernandez, Gary Burton, Vinnie Colaiuta, Adam Rogers and countless more. In recent years, one of his most important stations has been the quartet around the recently deceased Wayne Shorter, together with Danilo Perez and Brian Blade, which is now one of the most important bands in jazz history. He has been honored countless times by various institutions and magazines as best bassist, has won three Grammy awards and has been nominated more than 15 times.

Gene Jackson is an American jazz drummer. He studied at Berklee College and has performed with Herbie Hancock, the Mingus Big Band, and numerous jazz greats such as Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride, and Terence Blanchard. Since 1999, he has also collaborated with European musicians, including the NDR Big Band and Christof Lauer. Currently (as of 2018), he is a member of the New York Standards Quartet. In addition to his career as a musician, he teaches at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York.
