Ali N. Askin gehört zu den großen Namen in der deutschen Kompositionslandschaft. Vielfach preisgekrönt präsentiert der Komponist, Keyboarder und Arrangeur am heutigen Abend mit seiner Band eine einzigartige Mischung aus Jazz, Funk, Weltmusik und vielen weiteren Stilrichtungen; all die Einflüsse seiner mannigfaltigen musikalischen Karriere. Mit von der Partie ist eine Band gespickt mit der Elite der deutschen Jazz- und Sessionmusikszene.

Ali N. Askin
Nach seinem klassischen Kompositionstudium und Tätigkeit als Keyboarder und Pianist in lokalen Bands in seiner Heimatstadt München, erregte Askin in den 1990er Jahren international Aufmerksamkeit als musikalischer Assistent von Frank Zappa ("The Yellow Shark"). Gleichzeitig begann er damit, Musik für Theater und Filme zu schreiben und wurde bald einer der bekanntesten Filmkomponisten in Deutschland. Er arbeitet sowohl für nationale als auch internationale TV- und Filmproduktionen (ARD, ZDF, ARTE, Netflix, Warner, etc.). Im Jahr 2008 erhielt er den Deutschen Filmpreis für die beste Filmmusik und wurde seitdem dreimal nominiert. Er komponiert weiterhin Konzertmusik sowie Werke für Musiktheater, und ist als Musiker in verschiedenen Projekten aktiv. 2022 gründete er sein Label Yatak Records, auf dem er eigene Projekte und die von befreundeten Künstler*innen veröffentlicht.

Lars Zander
Lars ist als Woodwind-Wizard sowohl als Live-Musiker als auch als Studiomusiker sehr gefragt. Sein einzigartiger Sound ist bei Künstlern und Projekten wie Flo Mega & The Ruffcats, Matti Klein Soul Trio, Stereofysh, Moka Efti Orchestra (Berlin Babylon), The BossHoss, Jazzanova und vielen anderen zu hören. Neben einem vollen Tourplan unterrichtet er auch an verschiedenen Universitäten wie der Humboldt-Universität, NYU-Berlin und der FU Berlin.

Christoph Titz
Nachdem er seine erste Band Scetches gegründet hatte, die in den 90er Jahren international als eine der interessantesten Jazz-Funk-Fusion-Bands aus Deutschland bekannt wurde, trat Christoph als Solist und Begleitmusiker für verschiedene Künstler und Bands auf, darunter: Marla Glen, Carl Craig, Moritz von Oswald, WDR Big Band, Ebo Taylor, Hugo Fernandez, Senor Coconut, Leszek Kulakowski & Adam Wendt und viele andere. Seit 2002 hat er 8 Soloalben seiner eigenen Projekte veröffentlicht.

Tilo Weber
Tilo ist als Schlagzeuger und Komponist in verschiedenen Bands und Projekten aktiv. Neben dem Spielen und Schreiben für seine eigenen Bands wie Animate Repose und Four Fauns ist er auch Mitglied von David Friedmans Generations Trio/Quartet und der Band Y-Otis. Gemeinsam mit David Friedman gründete er das Label Malletmuse Records und unterrichtet an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. Im Jahr 2022 erhielt er den Deutschen Jazzpreis für die beste Arrangement-Leistung ("Se la mia morte brami").

Thomas Stieger
Seit vielen Jahren zählt Thomas zu den gefragtesten Bassisten, Begleitmusikern und Session-Musikern in Deutschland. Er hat mit national und international renommierten Künstlern und Bands der europäischen Musikszene zusammengearbeitet, hauptsächlich in den bunten Welten von Pop, Rock, Soul und Jazz. Einige Künstler, mit denen er aufgetreten, auf Tour gegangen und Aufnahmen gemacht hat, sind: Wolfgang Haffner, Randy Brecker, Sarah Connor, Bill Evans, Nils Landgren, Gregory Porter und viele mehr. Er ist auch Mitbegründer der vielbeachteten Fusion-Formation Marriage Material.

Ali N. Askin is one of the big names in the German composition scene. The multi-award-winning composer, keyboardist and arranger will be presenting a unique blend of jazz, funk, world music and many other styles with his band tonight; all the influences of his diverse musical career. He will be joined by a band packed with the elite of the German jazz and session music scene.

After studying classical composition and working as a keyboardist and pianist in local bands in his home town of Munich, Askin attracted international attention in the 1990s as Frank Zappa's musical assistant ("The Yellow Shark"). At the same time, he began writing music for theater and films and soon became one of the best-known film composers in Germany. He works for both national and international TV and film productions (ARD, ZDF, ARTE, Netflix, Warner, etc.). In 2008, he received the German Film Award for Best Film Music and has since been nominated three times. He continues to compose concert music and works for music theater, and is active as a musician in various projects. In 2022, he founded his label Yatak Records, on which he releases his own projects and those of artist friends.

Lars is in great demand as a woodwind wizard both as a live musician and as a studio musician. His unique sound can be heard with artists and projects such as Flo Mega & The Ruffcats, Matti Klein Soul Trio, Stereofysh, Moka Efti Orchestra (Berlin Babylon), The BossHoss, Jazzanova and many others. In addition to a busy touring schedule, he also teaches at various universities such as Humboldt University, NYU-Berlin and FU Berlin.

Christoph Titz
After forming his first band Scetches, which became internationally known as one of the most interesting jazz-funk-fusion bands from Germany in the 90's, Christoph performed as a soloist and backing musician for various artists and bands including: Marla Glen, Carl Craig, Moritz von Oswald, WDR Big Band, Ebo Taylor, Hugo Fernandez, Senor Coconut, Leszek Kulakowski & Adam Wendt and many others. Since 2002 he has released 8 solo albums of his own projects.

Tilo Weber
Tilo is active as a drummer and composer in various bands and projects. In addition to playing and writing for his own bands such as Animate Repose and Four Fauns, he is also a member of David Friedman's Generations Trio/Quartet and the band Y-Otis. Together with David Friedman he founded the label Malletmuse Records and teaches at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. In 2022 he received the German Jazz Award for the best arrangement performance ("Se la mia morte brami").

He has worked with nationally and internationally renowned artists and bands on the European music scene, mainly in the colorful worlds of pop, rock, soul and jazz. Some of the artists he has performed, toured and recorded with are: Wolfgang Haffner, Randy Brecker, Sarah Connor, Bill Evans, Nils Landgren, Gregory Porter and many more. He is also co-founder of the acclaimed fusion group Marriage Material.
