“One of the most interesting jazz piano players of his generation“ (Fono Forum): Not only since his second, critically acclaimed album “COSMOS”, Lorenz Kellhuber is considered an extraordinary talent in the jazz scene. The 26-year-old shines not only as an instrumentalist but also as a composer and as an improvisator. As the first German musician he received the first price of the renowned Parmigiani Piano Solo Competition at Montreux Jazz Festival from Monty Alexander in summer 2014 and was invited to the first Montreux Jazz Academy where he played with Lee Ritenour, Charles Lloyd and Eric Harland. In 2016 Lorenz was nominated for the ECHO Jazz as “Newcomer of the Year”. By now, Lorenz has demonstrated his abilities in many concerts far beyond national borders. He played numerous festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz Festival Basel (Switzerland), Getxo Jazz Festival (Spain), Alto Adige Jazz Festival (Italy) and Burghausen Jazz Week (Germany) and worked with musicians such as Al Porcino, T.S. Monk, Ed Partyka, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Adrian Mears, Ignaz Dinné and Johannes Enders. Since 2012 Lorenz has impressed his audience with his solo concerts and his abilities in free improvisation. He exactly knows how to get the best out of his instrument. By eliciting orchestral and chamber music sounds beyond the borders of a genuine jazz sound, he makes his way to a stunning individual style. With his technical perfection and inexhaustible ingenuity he creates “improvisations of astonishing depth and maturity” (Jazzwise Magazine) proving himself a sensitive sound aesthete.

Bei unzähligen Konzerten weit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus hat er bereits seine Fähigkeiten unter Beweis gestellt. Zahlreiche Festivals wie das Montreux Jazz Festival, das Jazzfestival Basel (Schweiz), das Getxo Jazzfestival (Spanien), das Alto Adige Jazzfestival (Italien) und die Jazzwoche Burghausen standen dabei auf seinem Tourplan. Darüber hinaus arbeitete Kellhuber mit Musikern wie Al Porcino, T.S. Monk, Ed Partyka, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Adrian Mears, Ignaz Dinné und Johannes Enders. Seit 2012 überzeugt Kellhuber mit seinen frei-improvisierten Solo-Konzerten. Er versteht es, sein Instrument voll auszuschöpfen und entfesselt mal orchestrale, mal kammermusikalische Klänge, die die Grenzen eines genuinen Jazzsounds erweitern, hin zu einem verblüffenden Individualstil. ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a donation/crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a donation of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch Spenden/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass eine Spende von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
