Vincent Herring, einer der prägendsten Saxophonisten der letzten Jahre und Joris Dudli, der im ZigZag-Jazzclub regelmäßig mit den besten Spielern der Mainstream-Jazzwelt begeistert, blicken auf eine lange und fruchtbare Zusammenarbeit zurück und ihre neueste Ausgabe von SOUL CHEMISTRY wird mit noch mehr Spannung als sonst erwartet: Zusammen mit Shootingstar Erena Terakubo an den Saxophonen, den New Yorker Spitzenmusikern Gary Fisher am Klavier und Essiet Essiet am Bass hat diese Band die perfekte Chemie, um swingend - groovige, aber stets äußerst gefühlvolle Jazzmusik von heute zu präsentieren.

Vincent Herring ist ein Saxophonvirtuose mit einer einzigartigen und intensiven musikalischen Stimme und einer der wegweisendsten Saxophonisten der letzten Jahrzehnte. In den frühen 80er Jahren tourte er in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten mit der Lionel Hampton Big Band und begann kurz danach ein 9 Jahre Engagement mit Nat Adderley. In weiterer Folge arbeitete er dann mit Cedar Walton, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Hayes, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver Quintet, Jack DeJohnette’s Special Edition, The Mingus Big Band, Kenny Barron, Nancy Wilson und Dr. Billy Taylor. Als Gastsolist spielte er u. a. mit Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center und John Faddis mit der Carnegie Hall Big Band. Bei all diesen beeindruckenden Höhepunkten in seiner Sidemankarriere hörte Vincent jedoch nie auf, seine eigenständige Stimme zu entwickeln und inspirierte Generationen junger JazzmusikerInnen weltweit.

Erena Terakubo ist eines der größten Saxophontalente weltweit. In ihrer Heimat Japan ist sie inzwischen ein Jazzstar von größter Popularität; kein Wunder, spielte sie doch schon mit gerade einmal 17 Jahren ihr Debütalbum mit Legenden wie Kenny Barron, Christian McBride und Peter Bernstein ein. Inzwischen wohnt Sie in den USA, wo sie ein unabdingbarer Teil der Szene geworden ist; spielt und spielte mit MusikerInnen wie David Hazeltine, Jimmy Cobb und Ron Carter.

Gary Fisher wuchs in der Nähe von Detroit, Michigan, auf und zog 1997 nach New York City, wo er sich seither als beliebter “Musicans’s Musician” etablieren konnte. Zu den Künstlern, mit denen Gary aufgetreten ist, gehören Chet Baker, Richard Bona, Randy Brecker, Richie Cole, John Handy, Eddie Henderson, Tonhino Horta und David „Fathead“ Newman , Jerome Richardson, Lou Soloff, Orlando „Maraca“ Valle, Dave Valentin, Eddie Cleanhead“ Vinson und Jeff Watts.

Essiet Essiet ist ein nigerianischstämmiger amerikanischer Bassist, der zur ersten Riege der New Yorker Jazzwelt gehört. Von Kindesbeinen an machte er Musik, mit 14 wandte er sich dem Jazz zu. 1982 kam sein künstlerischer Durchbruch, als er begann mit Abdullah Ibrahim zu arbeiten. 1988 wurde er dann Mitglied in einer der legendärsten Formationen des Jazz: Art Blay and the Jazz Messengers. Inzwischen ist er ohne Zweifel einer der renommiertesten Jazzbassisten überhaupt, spielte mit Benny Golson, Kenny Garrett, Freddie Hubbard, Cedar Walton, Jackie Mclean, Kenny Barron, Billy Higgins, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kenny Kirkland, Danilo Perez und fast unendlich vielen anderen TopspielerInnen.

Joris Dudli ist ein schweizerischer Jazz-Schlagzeuger, der zu den erfolgreichsten seiner Zunft gezählt wird. Ab dem siebzehnten Lebensjahr arbeitete er als Studiomusiker und wurde später von 1979 bis 1985 festes Mitglied des Vienna Art Orchestra sowie des Art Farmer Quintets. Nach seinem Umzug in die USA spielte und nahm er mit vielen der größten Jazzmusiker der Welt auf: The Zawinul Syndicate, Benny Golson, Curtis Fuller, Johnny Griffin, Mulgrew Miller, Clifford Jordan, Joe Lovano, Joe Henderson, Harold Mabern, Sonny Fortune und vielen weiteren mehr.

Vincent Herring is a saxophone virtuoso with a unique and intense musical voice and one of the most groundbreaking saxophonists of recent decades. In the early 80's he toured Europe and the United States with the Lionel Hampton Big Band and shortly after began a 9 year engagement with Nat Adderley. Despite all these impressive highlights in his sideman career, Vincent never stopped developing his independent voice and inspired generations of young jazz musicians worldwide.

Erena Terakubo is one of the world's greatest saxophone talents. In her native Japan, she is now a jazz star of the greatest popularity; no wonder, as she recorded her debut album with legends such as Kenny Barron, Christian McBride and Peter Bernstein when she was just 17 years old. She now lives in the USA, where she has become an indispensable part of the scene, playing and recording with musicians such as David Hazeltine, Jimmy Cobb and Ron Carter.

Essiet Essiet is a Nigerian-born American bassist who belongs to the first squad of the New York jazz world. He made music from childhood, turning to jazz at 14. His artistic breakthrough came in 1982, when he began working with Abdullah Ibrahim. In 1988 he became a member of one of the most legendary formations in jazz: Art Blay and the Jazz Messengers. In the meantime, he is without a doubt one of the most renowned jazz bassists ever, playing with Benny Golson, Kenny Garrett, Freddie Hubbard, Cedar Walton, Jackie Mclean, Kenny Barron, Billy Higgins, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kenny Kirkland, Danilo Perez and almost infinitely many other top players.

Joris Dudli is a Swiss jazz drummer who is counted among the most successful of his guild. From the age of seventeen he worked as a studio musician and later became a permanent member of the Vienna Art Orchestra from 1979 to 1985, as well as the Art Farmer Quintet. After moving to the United States, he played and recorded with many of the world's greatest jazz musicians: The Zawinul Syndicate, Benny Golson, Curtis Fuller, Johnny Griffin, Mulgrew Miller, Clifford Jordan, Joe Lovano, Joe Henderson, Harold Mabern, Sonny Fortune and many more.
