Die Ausnahme-Gitarristen Ulf Wakenius und Paulo Morello verbindet eine tief Liebe zum Jazz und zur brasilianischen Musik – über die Jahre spielten sowohl Morello als auch Wakenius mit dem „Who is Who“ der brasilianischen und US-amerikanischen Musikszene.
Nun präsentieren sich die beiden zum ersten Mal im Duo.
Dabei berücksichtigen sie all jene Qualitäten, die den Jazz und die brasilianische Musik unverwechselbar und stark machen: mit der federnden Leichtigkeit, die Musik aus Brasilien zu eigen ist. Mit der Raffinesse, der Intensität und dem Speed des Jazz. Und mit einer selbstverständlich virtuosen, freudig-flüssigen Lockerheit des Musizierens, die nur jenen gelingt, die auf dem Instrument und den Genres ihrer Wahl absolute Meister sind.

Paulo Morello gilt als einer der interessantesten Jazzgitarristen Europas. Dies zeigt sich an seinen erfolgreichen internationalen Projekten mit dem Trompeten-Star Randy Brecker, der Bossa Nova Legende Leny Andrade und der Night Of Jazz Guitars mit dem späten Larry Coryell. Mit ihnen gastierte Morello auf den bedeutendsten europäischen und südamerikanischen Festivals. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er mit Jimmy Smith, Bob Mintzer, Paul Kuhn, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira, Philip Catherine und Pat Martino zusammen. Morello lehrt als Professor für Jazzgitarre am Jazz Institut Berlin und der Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg

Ulf Wakenius war elf Jahre lang Gitarrist im Quartett des legendären Oscar Peterson, bis zu dessen Tod im Jahr 2007; ebenso spielte er jahrelang mit Bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. Auf seinen Aufnahmen als Leader zeigt sich der virtuose Gitarrist oft von seiner ruhigen, melodischen Seite, zumeist an der Akustikgitarre – mit Bearbeitungen der Musik von Esbjörn Svensson oder Keith Jarrett ebenso, wie bei seinen stimmungsvollen, oft weltmusikalisch gefärbten Eigenkompositionen. Wakenius spielte u.a. mit Pat Metheny, Sivuca, Michael und Randy Brecker, Ray Brown, Jack DeJohnette, Bill Evans und Bob Berg.

Exceptional guitarists Ulf Wakenius and Paulo Morello share a deep love for jazz and Brazilian music – over the years, both Morello and Wakenius have played with the "Who's Who" of the Brazilian and US music scene. Since 2019, the two have primarily performed as a duo. In their collaboration, they incorporate all the qualities that make jazz and Brazilian music distinctive and powerful: the buoyant lightness inherent in Brazilian music, the sophistication, intensity, and speed of jazz, and an effortlessly virtuosic, joyfully fluid ease in their musical expression, achievable only by those who are absolute masters of their instruments and genres of choice.

Paulo Morello is regarded as one of the most interesting jazz guitarists in Europe. This is evident in his successful international projects with trumpet star Randy Brecker, Bossa Nova legend Leny Andrade, and the Night Of Jazz Guitars with the late Larry Coryell. With them, Morello performed at major European and South American festivals. Additionally, he collaborated with Jimmy Smith, Bob Mintzer, Paul Kuhn, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira, Philip Catherine, and Pat Martino. Morello holds the positions of Artistic Director and Professor for Jazz Guitar at the Jazz Institut Berlin.

Ulf Wakenius spent eleven years as the guitarist in the quartet of the legendary Oscar Peterson until Peterson's death in 2007. He also played for many years with bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. In his recordings as a leader, the virtuoso guitarist often reveals his calm, melodic side, mostly on the acoustic guitar – interpreting the music of Esbjörn Svensson or Keith Jarrett, as well as presenting his atmospheric, often world-music-infused original compositions. Wakenius has collaborated with Pat Metheny, Sivuca, Michael and Randy Brecker, Ray Brown, Jack DeJohnette, Bill Evans, and Bob Berg, among others.
