John-Dennis Renken, preisgekrönter Jazztrompeter, war schon immer von der Hip-Hop Bewegung, die neue Wege des Musizierens erschuf, fasziniert. John-Dennis' neues Programm, aufgeführt von seinem Quintett TRIBE featuring DJ Illvibe (Vincent von Schlippenbach), ist eine Hommage an die HeldInnen der Anfänge der bedeutendsten zeitgenössischen schwarzen Musik.
Vertrackte Kompositionen, atemberaubende Improvisationen, manchmal zart – meistens fett und immer wahnsinnig! Eine wilde Mixtur, angesiedelt im paradoxen Feld des Jazz, angedockt an Hip Hop, R’n’B, Dubstep, Pop & Rock. Emotionalität und pure Energie, Komplexität und Hörvergnügen gehen Hand in Hand.

John-Dennis Renken ist ein deutscher Jazztrompeter. Er studierte an der Folkwang-Universität der Künste und war Mitglied im Landesjugendjazzorchester NRW und im BuJazzO. Im Laufe seiner Karriere arbeitete er mit der WDR Big Band, Michael Wollny, André Nentza zusammen und war Gast auf einigen bedeutenden Festivalbühnen, darunter dem Moers Festival und der Jazzahead. Seine Arbeit wurde vielfach preisgekrönt.

DJ Illvibe aka Vincent von Schlippenbach ist der Sohn des Jazzpianisten Alexander von Schlippenbach. Zusammen mit diesem und dessen Frau Aki Takase veröffentlichte er 2005 das Album Lok. 03.
Bereits mit 15 Jahren begann er in Hip-Hop-Clubs aufzulegen. Heute arbeitet er an vielen Musikprojekten in Berlin aktiv mit (im Jazz-Bereich u.a. mit Carlos Bica & Azul, Demian Kappenstein oder auch mit Daniel Erdmann) und ist DJ in Berliner Clubs. 2006 wirkte er als Autor von Ding von Seeed und 2009 bei Schwarz zu blau von Peter Fox mit.

Angelika Niescier ist eine der Führungsfiguren der deutschen Jazzszene. Die Saxophonistin, Komponistin, Bandleaderin und Organisatorin studierte an der Folkwang-Universität und hat sich mit ihrem hochenergetischen Spiel ein beachtliches Renommee erarbeitet. Sie spielte und spielt mit den national wie international renommiertesten KünstlerInnen und ist stets auf der Suche nach neuen musikalischen Ausdrucksformen jenseits von Genrekonventionen. Dabei spielte sie mit Koryphäen wie Joachim Kühn, Thomas Morgan, Ralph Alessi, Eric Revis, Gerald Cleaver, Florian Weber, Gerd Dudek. Ausgezeichnet wurde sie unter anderem mit dem Förderpreis NRW für Musik, dem Albert-Mangelsdorff-Preis, dem WDR-Jazzpreis 2023 und brandaktuell dem deutschen Jazzpreis 2024.

Klaus Heidenreich ist ein deutscher Jazzposaunist. Scho in früher Jugend zeigte sich sein Talent und er gewann mehrfach Preise bei “Jugend musiziert” und “Jugend jazzt”. Als Jungstudent studierte er bei Nils Wogram in Hannover und regulär ab 2005 an der Musikhochschule Köln. Er ist ein äußerst umtriebiger und sehr gefragter Musiker, hielt einen Lehrauftrag für Jazzposaune in Hannover und ist seit 2008 festes Mitglied der NDR Bigband.

Andreas Wahl ist ein deutscher Jazzgitarrist und -pädagoge. Er studierte am ArtEZ in Arnheim. Heute lebt er im Ruhrgebiet und ist aus der deutschen Jazzszene nicht mehr wegzudenken. Er absolvierte CD- und Rundfunkproduktionen sowie Auftritte mit der WDR Bigband, Peter Herborns Large Ensemble und dem Essen Jazz Orchestra. Inzwischen ist er auch als Dozent tätig und hält Lehraufträge an der Hochschule für Musik Bremen sowie dem Institut für Musik Osnabrück.

Bernd Oezsevim studierte an der Folkwang-Universität der Künste in Essen und ist schon seit jungen Jahren weltweit tourender Musiker. Im Laufe seiner Karriere spielte er mit deutschen wie internationalen Größen wie Perry Robinson, Florian Weber, Randy Brecker, Uri Caine oder Rudresh Mahanthappa. Auch ist er seit seinem 22. Lebensjahr festes Mitglied in Gunter Hampels European Quartet. Seit 2010 lebt und wirkt er in Berlin.

John-Dennis Renken, award-winning jazz trumpeter, has always been fascinated by the hip-hop movement, which created new ways of making music. Knowing the history of Black music, including jazz, these musicians were able to create a new kind of flow and groove. John-Dennis' new program, performed by his quintet TRIBE featuring DJ Illvibe (Vincent von Schlippenbach), is a tribute to the heroes of the early days.

Tricky compositions, breathtaking improvisations, sometimes tender - mostly bold and always insane! A wild mixture, located in the paradoxical field of jazz, docked to hip hop, R'n'B, dubstep, pop & rock. Emotionality and pure energy, complexity and listening pleasure go hand in hand. John-Dennis Renken is one of the leading creative jazz trumpeters in modern jazz. He studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts and was a member of the Landesjugendjazzorchester NRW and the BuJazzO. In the course of his career he has worked with some of the leading artists, such as the WDR Big Band, Michael Wollny, André Nentza and has been a guest at some of the most important festival stages, including the Moers Festival and Jazzahead. DJ Illvibe aka Vincent von Schlippenbach is the son of jazz pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach. Together with him and his wife Aki Takase, he released the album Lok. 03 in 2005. He started DJing in hip-hop clubs at the age of 15. At 19, he became a member of the band Lychee Lassi. He was also a live DJ for several bands (e.g. Das Department and nuBox, with whom he performed at the Frankfurt am Main Jazz Festival in 2005). Today he is actively involved in many music projects in Berlin (in the jazz sector with Carlos Bica & Azul, Demian Kappenstein and Daniel Erdmann, among others) and is a DJ in Berlin clubs. In 2006 he was the author of Ding by Seeed and in 2009 of Schwarz zu blau by Peter Fox. He has been involved in albums (by Seeed, Peter Fox, Marteria, among others) that have achieved a total of 8 gold, 3 platinum and 1 silver status.

Angelika Niescier is one of the leading figures on the German jazz scene. The saxophonist, composer, bandleader and organizer studied at the Folkwang University and has earned herself a considerable reputation with her highly energetic playing. She has played and continues to play with the most renowned national and international artists and is always on the lookout for new forms of musical expression beyond genre conventions. She has played with such luminaries as Joachim Kühn, Thomas Morgan, Ralph Alessi, Eric Revis, Gerald Cleaver, Florian Weber and Gerd Dudek. She has been awarded the NRW Prize for Music, the Albert Mangelsdorff Prize and, most recently, the WDR Jazz Prize 2023.

Klaus Heidenreich is a German jazz trombonist. His talent was already evident in his early youth and he won several prizes at "Jugend musiziert" and "Jugend jazzt". As a junior student he studied with Nils Wogram in Hanover and from 2005 onwards at the Cologne University of Music. He is an extremely busy and much sought-after musician, held a teaching position for jazz trombone in Hanover and has been a permanent member of the NDR Big Band since 2008.

Andreas Wahl is a German jazz guitarist and educator. He studied at the ArtEZ in Arnhem. Today he lives in the Ruhr area and is an integral part of the German jazz scene. He has made CD and radio productions and performed with the WDR Bigband, Peter Herborn's Large Ensemble and the Essen Jazz Orchestra. He now also works as a lecturer and teaches at the Bremen University of Music and the Osnabrück Institute of Music.

Bernd Oezsevim studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and has been touring the world as a musician since a young age. In the course of his career, he has played with German and international greats such as Perry Robinson, Florian Weber, Randy Brecker, Uri Caine and Rudresh Mahanthappa. He has also been a permanent member of Gunter Hampel's European Quartet since the age of 22. He has lived and worked in Berlin since 2010.
