Ohne Übertreibung kann man Bernhard Ullrich (sax), Andi Bühler (drums), Takashi Peterson (git) und Tobi Fleischer (b) zu den grossen Namen der deutschen Jazz und Funk Szene zählen. Die regelmässigen Konzerte im ZigZag mit ihrer Band The Bootyjive sind immer restlos ausverkauft. Mit ihrem neuen Projekt verneigen sich die 4 Ausnahmemusiker nun vor den Grossmeistern und Wegbereitern des Soul und Funk. Der heutige Abend ist dem großartigen Saxophonisten Maceo Parker, (u.a. James Brown) gewidmet und steht ganz im Zeichen des Groove. Ganz egal, was diese Quartett mit der Vorgabe anfängt, ein mitreißender Abend ist garantiert!

Bernhard Ullrich erhielt sein Konzertdiplom Musikhochschule Stuttgart sowie Abschluss an der New School, New York - Unterricht bei Bernd Konrad, Frank Sikora, Rich Perry, Bill Evans, Ralph Lalama, Reggie Workman, Adam Holzman, Bobby Sanabria, Charles Tolliver, Richie Beirach, Kenny Werner und vielen anderen. Gewinner des Student Down Beat Award 1997.
Etliche Welttourneen mit der New Yorker Punk Swing Band ‘Dem Brooklyn Bums’, spielte in vielen Bands in den USA und Berlin u.a. mit Scott Colley, Jeff Hershfield, Gene Perla, Dave Manley, Ike Turner,
Aktuell arbeitet Bernhard Ullrich mit der Funkjazz Band The BootyJive, Pugsley Buzzard and the Swamp Orchestra, dem Maria Baptist Jazz Orchestra, sowie der Berliner Brass Band “Beat ’n’ Blow”.

Tobias Fleischer studierte an Paul McCartneys Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts und an der Bass School Munich. Unterricht bei Steve Berry, Ian Gardiner und Gary Carpenter, Lincoln Goines, Gary Willis und Kenny Davis. Tourneen in über 25 Ländern u.a. Malaysia, China, Australien, Zimbabwe, Korea und der Ukraine mit einer Vielzahl von Künstlern. Gewinner des Jazz&Blues Award Berlin, des Future Sound Award der Leverkusener Jazztage und des Miles Award.
Zahlreiche Album-Veröffentlichtlichungen mit Mo‘Blow (auf ACT), Manfred Maurenbrecher (3 mal Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik), Bassa, The BootyJive, Michael van Merwyk u.v.a.
Zusammenarbeit mit Nils Landgren, Abi Wallenstein, Torsten Goods, Pugsley Buzzard, Franz Bauer, Magnus Lindgren und eine Vielzahl von Theaterproduktionen.

Andi Bühlers Schlagzeugspiel trägt die Band, mischt sich ein, hält sich nicht zurück und lässt Platz für Überraschungen. Andy gilt als einer der kraftvollsten, kreativsten, groovigsten und virtuosesten Schlagzeuger in der deutschen Funk- und Jazzszene. Auf seine Studienjahren in der Schweiz und den USA folgten zahlreiche internationale Preise (u.a. Friedel-Waldstiftung-Jazz, Drummer/Percussionisten-Wettbewerb Altishofen, Jazz- und Bluesaward Berlin) Tourneen und Kooperationen u.a. mit The BootyJive, Playmobeat, Céline Rudolph, JZO-Baden-Württemberg, VallesantaCorde, Barbara Dennerlein, Konzerthaus Berlin, SJS-BigBand, u.v.m

Takashi Peterson - Konzertdiplom für Jazz Performance, Masters für Komposition/Arrangement von Swiss Jazz School, Bern/Schweiz. Takashi spielt akustische- und elektrische-Gitarre und komponiert breitgefächert für Ensembles und Theaterprojekten. Seine stilistische Vielfalt reicht von Blues, Funk, Jazz, Tango, bis hin zu Flamenco. Masterclasses u.a. mit Pat Metheney, Peter Bernstein, Adam Holzman, Jerry Bergonzi, Michael Brecker, Billy Cobham, Jorge Pardo, Sepillo, Anton Jimenez, Jose Manuel Leon, und Gerardo Nuñez.Zusammenarbeit u.a. mit Buddy Guy, Johnny Lang, Charlie and The Nightcats, John Paul and the Hellhounds, Joanna O'Conner, Corey Harris, Arthur Conley, Adam Holzmann, Jorge Pardo, Maria Mezcle, Abdeljalil Kodssi, Helmut Eisel, Raquel Villegas, Iman Das, Apratim Majumdar, und Amit Chatterjee. Without exaggeration, Bernhard Ullrich (sax), Andi Bühler (drums), Takashi Peterson (git) and Tobi Fleischer (b) can be counted among the big names on the German jazz and funk scene. The regular concerts at ZigZag with their band The Bootyjive are always completely sold out. With their new project, the four exceptional musicians are now paying tribute to the grand masters and pioneers of soul and funk. Tonight is dedicated to the great saxophonist Maceo Parker (James Brown, among others) and is all about the groove. Regardless of what this quartet does with the music, a rousing evening is guaranteed!

Bernhard Ullrich got his concert diploma from the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and graduated from the New School, New York - lessons with Bernd Konrad, Frank Sikora, Rich Perry, Bill Evans, Ralph Lalama, Reggie Workman, Adam Holzman, Bobby Sanabria, Charles Tolliver, Richie Beirach, Kenny Werner and many others. Winner of the Student Down Beat Award 1997, several world tours with the New York punk swing band 'Dem Brooklyn Bums', played in many bands in the USA and Berlin with Scott Colley, Jeff Hershfield, Gene Perla, Dave Manley, Ike Turner, among others, currently works with the funk jazz band The BootyJive, Pugsley Buzzard and the Swamp Orchestra, the Maria Baptist Jazz Orchestra, as well as the Berlin brass band "Beat 'n' Blow".

Andi Bühler's drumming carries the band, gets involved, doesn't hold back and leaves room for surprises. Andy is regarded as one of the most powerful, creative, groovy and virtuoso drummers in the German funk and jazz scene.
