Sera Kalo ist eine U.S.-afro-karibische Musikerin, Songwriterin und Schauspielerin. Sie wuchs in einem karibischen Elternhaus in Connecticut auf, der von einer Mischung verschiedener Musikstile durchdrungen war. Vom gefühlvollen Gesang ihrer Mutter aus St. Lucia, die alte Hymnen und Motown-Klassiker sang, bis hin zur Liebe ihres dominikanischen Vaters für Reggae, Cadence und Calypso war so gut wie jedes Genre vertreten. Bereits in jungen Jahren haben die vielfältigen musikalischen Einflüsse ihres Elternhauses in Kombination mit den verschiedensten Stilistiken ihre Liebe zur Musik geprägt. Zu ihren stimmlichen Vorbildern zählen unter anderem Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, India Arie und Erykah Badu.

Für die Produktion ihres ersten Solo-Albums hat Sera Kalo sich mit dem in Berlin lebenden schwedischen Jazz-Bassisten, Bandleader und Komponisten Petter Eldh zusammengetan. Das selbstbetitelte Projekt mit dem Namen „eXante“ wurde am 23. Juni 2023 bei o-tone music veröffentlicht. Einen Vorgeschmack zum Album gab es mit der Single-Auskopplung „Can You Speak My Language“. Am heutigen Abend erkundet sie gemeinsam mit ihrer Band die grenzenlosen Möglichkeiten der Jazzmusik in Kombination mit orchestralen Klängen und elektronischen Beats. Sera Kalo hat nicht nur ihre Stimme als Sängerin gefunden, sondern auch als Songwriterin und Produzentin, die ihren Sound durch intime musikalische Klanglandschaften und poetische Erzählungen definiert.

Der Gitarrist und Komponist Igor Osypov hat sich mit seinem knackigen, leicht verzerrten Sound zu einer der markantesten Stimmen im Jazz sowie in Indie-Rock und Fusion entwickelt. Eines der Alben, an denen er im Rahmen von Logan Richardsons Projekt „Blues People“ mitgearbeitet hat, wurde von der New York Times unter die Top 3 Jazzalben des Jahres 2018 aufgenommen.

Sofia Eftychidou ist eine Kölner Bassistin mit griechischen Wurzeln. Ihre ersten musikalischen Schritte machte sie mit 10 Jahren, bis sich mit 14 dem Kontrabass zuwendete. Nach ersten klassischen Studien in Athen entdeckte sie den Jazz für sich und kam nach Zwischenstation in Berlin, wo sie an der Musikhochschule Jazzkontrabass studierte. Sie ist eine vielbeschäftigte Musikerin mit zahlreichen Projekten über verschiedene Genregrenzen hinaus; Touren führen sie regelmäßig durch ganz Deutschland und darüber hinaus.

Philip Adrian Dornbusch studierte am Jazzinstitut Berlin bei John Hollenbeck und Jim Black und arbeitete bereits mit Künstlern wie Uli Kempendorff, Ronny Graupe oder Jonas Westergaard. Mit der Band "Rosemarine" veröffentlichte er 2019 das gleichnamige Debütalbum auf dem renommierten Label Ropeadope (Christian Scott, Christian McBride).

Sera Kalo is a U.S. Afro-Caribbean musician, songwriter and actress. She grew up in a Caribbean home in Connecticut steeped in a mix of musical styles. From her St. Lucian mother's soulful singing of old hymns and Motown classics to her Dominican father's love of reggae, cadence and calypso, just about every genre was represented. From a young age, her parents' diverse musical influences combined with a wide variety of styles to shape her love of music. Her vocal idols include Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, India Arie and Erykah Badu.

For the production of her first solo album, Sera Kalo teamed up with Berlin-based Swedish jazz bassist, bandleader and composer Petter Eldh. The self-titled project called "eXante" was released on June 23, 2023 on o-tone music. A taste of the album was available with the single release "Can You Speak My Language." Tonight, together with her band, she explores the limitless possibilities of jazz music in combination with orchestral sounds and electronic beats. Sera Kalo has not only found her voice as a singer, but also as a songwriter and producer, defining her sound through intimate musical soundscapes and poetic narratives.

Guitarist and composer Igor Osypov's crisp, slightly distorted sound has made him one of the most distinctive voices in jazz as well as indie rock and fusion. One of the albums he collaborated on as part of Logan Richardson's "Blues People" project was named one of the top 3 jazz albums of 2018 by the New York Times.

Sofia Eftychidou is a bass player from Cologne with Greek roots. She took her first musical steps at the age of 10, until turning to the double bass at 14. After first classical studies in Athens, she discovered jazz for herself and after a stopover in Berlin, she studied jazz double bass at the Musikhochschule. She is a busy musician with numerous projects across various genres; tours regularly take her throughout Germany and beyond.
