The Peter Protschka Quintet is a real working band. Since 2013 now in the 10th year without interruption on tour- many club gigs, festivals and many thousands of kilometers this line-up has already completed together. Friends who love to challenge each other and make music together; musically going places they have not been before.

Still with them is legendary tenor saxophonist Rick Margitza: a strong and very unique voice from the New York post-bop movement of the late 1980s, who has now been at home in Paris for some 20 years. His extensive credentials include Miles Davis' legendary fusion band of the late 1980s: Margitza was hired by Miles Davis for a European tour in 1988 and recorded three albums with him: "Amandla", "Live around the world" & "Live in Montreux". This was followed by numerous albums on Blue Note under his own name. He also played with Eddie Gomez, Tony Williams, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, the famous jazz orchestras of American big band composers Maria Schneider and John Fedchock and various renowned European bands. Margitza's energetic as well as lyrical playing continues to be in demand in Europe as well as in America and immediately captivates his listeners here as well as there.

Joining him will be well-known top European musicians such as Uri Gincel (piano), Martin Gjakonovski (double bass) and Tobias Backhaus (drums). We can expect a program full of poetry and energy, which is stylistically located in post bop and consists almost exclusively of original compositions. After the live CD "Twilight Jamboree", the band released their first studio album "Hearts and Minds" (Challenge International) in spring 2022, which was enthusiastically received by the press. In the fall, the album will be presented only on an extensive release tour throughout German-speaking countries.
