OLI BOTT TRIO: Chronicles of Jazz
Maurice Ravel trifft auf Duke Ellington, Johann Sebastian Bach spielt mit Metallica, Erik Satie hängt mit Milt Jackson im Jazzclub ab.
Chronicles of Jazz sind Phantasiegeschichten, in denen Kompositions-Giganten aus Klassik, Jazz und mehr aufeinander treffen und eine Jazzsession miteinander spielen.

Oli Bott studierte Vibraphon und Komposition am Berklee College of Music in Boston bei Lehrern wie Gary Burton und Bob Brookmeyer und schloss mit 'summa cum laude' ab. Seitdem ist er als freischaffender Musiker in Berlin tätig, wurde durch mehrere Stipendien des Berliner Senats, Kompositionsaufträge für sein eigenes Jazzorchester, Rundfunk- und Fernsehmitschnitte zahlreicher Konzerte im In- und Ausland, als Sieger bei internationalen Wettbewerben wie NDR-Musikpreis für Jazzdirigenten, sowie mit dem 1. Preis des Leipziger Improvisationswettbewerb, dem Europ Jazz Contest und dem Wayne Shorter Award, USA geehrt und ausgezeichnet.
Oli liebt es, gute Musik aller Stilistiken zu interpretieren und fühlt sich wohl, seine eigenen Geschichten über Werke der Klassik, des Jazz, des Rock und der Weltmusik zu improvisieren. So reicht sein Portefolio von der rumänischen Rockband ZMEI3 über die Arbeit mit der Cellistin Anna Carewe und dem genreübergreifenden Sheridan Ensemble bis zu seinem Jazz Quartett mit Markus Stockhausen, Oliver Potratz und Eric Schaefer. Er bespielte so gut wie jede angesehene Festivalbühne im deutschsprachigen Raum und darüber hinaus.
Seit 2001 unterrichtet Oli Improvisation für klassisch ausgebildete Musiker und Musikerinnen in Berlin und gibt Workshops für das Education-Programm der Berliner Philharmoniker, die Hochschule der populären Künste Berlin, die Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus und die Landesmusikakademie Berlin.
2022 bekam er vom Deutschen Bundestag den Auftrag zum Anlass des 100-jährigen Jubiläums der Hymne Deutschlands eine 60-minütige Hommage an Haydn´s Werk zu komponieren, die er mit Anna Carewe, Markus Stockhausen, Oliver Potratz und Eric Schaefer produziert hat und auf www.dasdeutschlandlied.de veröffentlicht ist.

Arnulf Ballhorn ist seit über 20 Jahren Bassist im Orchester der Komischen Oper Berlin und dort auch in kammermusikalische Produktionen und interkulturelle Projekte involviert.
Seine musikalischen Vorlieben lassen sich für ihn schwer eingrenzen: Neben seiner Arbeit im Orchester gehören zeitgenössische Musik und klassische Kammermusik ebenso wie Jazz und Tango und die intensive Arbeit mit dem E-Bass zu seinen musikalischen Grundbedürfnissen.
Inspirationen bekam er durch Unterricht bei Bassisten wie Miroslav Vitous, Gary Willis und Jonas Hellborg, aber auch die rumänisch-deutsche Gruppe Zmei3, das Glorvigen-Trio und die Arbeit mit der Schauspielerin und Sängerin Dagmar Manzel bieten immer neue Herausforderungen. Arnulf Ballhorn betreibt ein eigenes Label und Studio.

Kay Lübke kam über die Stationen Frankfurt und Mainz Ende der 90er Jahre nach Berlin um an der HfM Hans Eisler zu studieren. Auch abseits der Hochschule, in der Berliner Musiklandschaft, wurde der gebürtige Karlsruher sehr gut aufgenommen. Es bildeten sich zahlreiche Projekte und Gruppen, die im Laufe der Jahre zu diversen CD Aufnahmen mit u.a Silke Eberhard, E.-L. Petrowsky, Uschi Brüning, Uli Gumpert, David Liebmann, Majid Bekkas, Henrik Walsdorf, Christof Sänger, Georg Boeßner und Uli Kempendorff führten.
Dadurch ergaben sich wiederum Konzertreisen und Festivalengagements im europäische Ausland, Israel, Marokko, Ägypten, Aserbaidschan, China, Kanada und den USA. Die Bühne teilte er sich u.a. mit John Schröder, Demba Nabe, Till Brönner, Shabaka Hutchings, Richie Cole, Kris Davis, Lyambiko, Lychi Lassie und Gitte Henning.
Geprägt durch eine große elterliche Schallplattensammlung kennt K.L. keine Schubladen und Berührungsängste. Er spielt BluesRock mit der gleichen Selbstverständlichkeit und Leidenschaft wie frei improvisierte Musik oder BigBand Jazz. Lübke ist nicht nur in den Clubs aktiv sondern auch an verschiedenen Berliner Bühnen tätig.
2008 gewann er den Studiopreis des Berliner Senats mit der Band Croomp und 2009 mit Stephen Brandon, 2013 wiederum mit seinem eigenen Projekt Slowboy (mit Jan von Klewitz und Wolfgang Roggenkamp).

Oli Bott studied vibraphone and composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston with teachers such as Gary Burton and Bob Brookmeyer, graduating 'summa cum laude'. After completing his studies, he moved to Berlin where he now works as a freelance vibraphonist and composer. The Arts Council of Berlin has been a regular supporter, awarding him both scholarships as a vibraphonist and commissions as a composer for his own jazz orchestra, which he also conducts. Oli Bott has been awarded many prizes, including the 'NDR-Musikpreis' for bigband conductors, 1st prize at the Leipzig Improvisation Competition and the Wayne Shorter Award, USA.
Oli loves to interpret good music of all styles and feels comfortable improvising his own stories on works of classical, jazz, rock and world music. His portfolio thus ranges from the Romanian rock band ZMEI3 to the collaboration with cellist Anna Carewe and the cross-genre Sheridan Ensemble to his jazz quartet with Markus Stockhausen, Oliver Potratz and Eric Schaefer. He has played on just about every prestigious festival stage in the German-speaking world and beyond.
Since 2001 Oli has been teaching improvisation to classically trained musicians in Berlin and gives workshops for the education programme of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin University of Popular Arts, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus and the Landesmusikakademie Berlin.
In 2022, he was commissioned by the German Bundestag to compose a 60-minute homage to Haydn's work to mark the 100th anniversary of Germany's anthem, which he produced with Anna Carewe, Markus Stockhausen, Oliver Potratz and Eric Schaefer and which is published on www.dasdeutschlandlied.de.

Arnulf Ballhorn has been a bass player in the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin for over 20 years, where he is also involved in chamber music productions and intercultural projects. His musical preferences are difficult to narrow down for him: Besides his work in the orchestra, contemporary music and classical chamber music as well as jazz and tango and intensive work with the electric bass are among his basic musical needs. He was inspired by lessons with bassists such as Miroslav Vitous, Gary Willis and Jonas Hellborg, but the Romanian-German group Zmei3, the Glorvigen Trio and work with the actress and singer Dagmar Manzel also always offer new challenges. Arnulf Ballhorn runs his own label and studio.

This in turn led to concert tours and festival engagements in other European countries, Israel, Morocco, Egypt, Azerbaijan, China, Canada and the USA. He shared the stage with John Schröder, Demba Nabe, Till Brönner, Shabaka Hutchings, Richie Cole, Kris Davis, Lyambiko, Lychi Lassie and Gitte Henning, among others. Influenced by a large parental record collection, K.L. knows no pigeonholes and fear of contact. He plays BluesRock with the same naturalness and passion as free improvised music or BigBand Jazz. Lübke is not only active in the clubs but also on various stages in Berlin. In 2008 he won the studio award of the Berlin Senate with the band Croomp and in 2009 with Stephen Brandon, in 2013 again with his own project Slowboy (with Jan von Klewitz and Wolfgang Roggenkamp).
