Der mehrfach für einen Grammy nominierte, Guggenheim- und MacArthur-Stipendiat Miguel Zenón gehört zu einer ausgewählten Gruppe von Musikern, die die oft widersprüchlichen Pole Innovation und Tradition meisterhaft ausbalanciert und miteinander verbunden haben. Er gilt als einer der bahnbrechendsten und einflussreichsten Saxophonisten und Komponisten seiner Generation. Darüber hinaus hat er eine einzigartige Stimme als Konzeptualist entwickelt, der sich auf die Perfektionierung einer feinen Mischung aus Jazz und seinen zahlreichen musikalischen Einflüssen konzentriert.
Zenón, der in San Juan, Puerto Rico, geboren und aufgewachsen ist, hat fünfzehn Tonträger als Leader veröffentlicht, darunter sein neuestes Album Música De Las Américas und die Grammy-nominierten Alben El Arte Del Bolero (2021), Sonero: The Music of Ismael Rivera (2019) und Yo Soy La Tradición (2018). Als Sideman hat er mit Koryphäen wie The SFJAZZ Collective, Charlie Haden, Fred Hersch, Kenny Werner, David Sánchez, Danilo Perez, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, Kurt Elling, Guillermo Klein & Los Guachos, The Jeff Ballard Trio, Antonio Sanchez, Brian Lynch, Joey Calderazzo, Steve Coleman, Ray Barreto, Andy Montañez, Jerry Gonzalez & The Fort Apache Band, The Mingus Big Band und Bobby Hutcherson gearbeitet.

Der 1971 in Caracas geborene Luis Perdomo spielte bereits im Alter von 12 Jahren in venezolanischen Fernseh- und Radiosendern, doch irgendwann wurde ihm klar, dass er nach New York City gehen musste, um seine musikalische Bestimmung zu erfüllen. "In einem wettbewerbsintensiveren und anspruchsvolleren Umfeld zu sein war eine große Veränderung, die ich gebraucht habe".
1993 zog Perdomo nach New York und schrieb sich mit einem Vollstipendium an der Manhattan School of Music ein, wo er bei Harold Danko und der klassischen Pianistin Martha Pestalozzi studierte und 1997 seinen BA-Abschluss erwarb. Später studierte Perdomo beim legendären Pianisten Sir Roland Hanna am Queens College, wo er im Jahr 2000 seinen Master-Abschluss machte. "Durch das Studium bei Sir Roland Hanna begann ich, Jazz und klassische Musik auf eine neue und tiefer gehende Weise zu betrachten, und mein Spiel entwickelte sich dementsprechend". Perdomo hat auf über zweihundert Platten mitgewirkt und ist zu einem erstklassigen Sideman für Künstler wie Dave Douglas, David Sanchez, Tom Harrell, Steve Turre, Ben Wolfe, Ray Barretto, Brian Lynch, David Gilmore, Conrad Herwig, Ignacio Berroa, Ralph Irizarry und Timbalaye und andere große Musiker geworden. Er war zehn Jahre lang Mitglied des Quartetts von Ravi Coltrane und ist Gründungsmitglied des Miguel Zenon Quartetts. Perdomo hat auf drei Grammy-nominierten CDs mitgewirkt: Coltranes "Influx", Zenons "Esta Plena" und "Alma Adentro": The Puerto Rican Songbook.

Multiple Grammy Nominee and Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenón represents a select group of musicians who have masterfully balanced and blended the often- contradictory poles of innovation and tradition. Widely considered as one of the most groundbreaking and influential saxophonists and composers of his generation, he has also developed a unique voice as a conceptualist, concentrating his efforts on perfecting a fine mix between Jazz and his many musical influences.

Born in 1971 in Caracas, Luis Perdomo, from the age of 12, was playing on Venezuelan TV and radio stations, but he eventually realized that he would have to travel to New York City to fulfill his musical destiny. “Being in a more competitive and challenging environment was a big change that I welcomed,” he says.
In 1993, Perdomo relocated to New York and enrolled with a full scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Harold Danko and classical pianist Martha Pestalozzi, and earned his earned his BA Degree in 1997. Perdomo later studied with pianist extraordinaire, Sir Roland Hanna at Queens College, and received his Masters Degree in 2000. "Studying with Sir Roland Hanna ...“I began to look at jazz and classical music in a new and more in-depth way and my playing evolved accordingly,” he says. Perdomo has appeared on over two hundred records, and has become a first-class sideman to artists like Dave Douglas, David Sanchez, Tom Harrell, Steve Turre, Ben Wolfe, Ray Barretto, Brian Lynch, David Gilmore, Conrad Herwig, Ignacio Berroa, Ralph Irizarry and Timbalaye and other great musicians. He was a member of Ravi Coltrane’s Quartet for ten years, and is a founding member of the Miguel Zenon Quartet. Perdomo recorded on three Grammy-nominated CD’s: Coltrane’s Influx, and Zenon’s Esta Plena, and Alma Adentro: The Puerto Rican Songbook.
