"Gravity", das Saxophontrio unter Leitung von Martin Wind feat. Peter Weniger und Jonas Burgwinkel ist eine Hommage an die Musik und die zwischenmenschlichen Verbindungen, die die Musiker miteinander teilen. Der Albumtitel bezieht sich auf die Schwerkraft als metaphorisches Konzept, das verschiedene Aspekte der Musik und der Beziehungen der Musiker zueinander umfasst. Für Martin Wind, den Bassisten und Bandleader des Trios, bildet der Kontrabass das Zentrum des Ensembles und ist vergleichbar mit der Sonne, die das Planetensystem zusammenhält. Die Chemie zwischen den Mitgliedern des Trios ist spürbar und hat zu einer besonderen Energie auf ihrem ersten Album geführt. Das Programm besteht aus Stücken mit unterschiedlichen Stilen und Stimmungen, darunter zupackender Swing, ausdrucksstarker Blues und gefühlvolle Balladen. Insgesamt erzeugen Martin Wind, Peter Weniger und Jonas Burgwinkel mit "Gravity" ein musikalisches Gravitationsfeld, dem man sich nur schwer entziehen kann. Die Spielfreude und Virtuosität der Musiker sind beeindruckend und machen das Album zu einem echten Hörerlebnis.

Martin Wind ist einer der führenden Jazz-Bassisten Deutschlands und international bekannt für sein virtuoses Spiel und seine kreative Kompositionsarbeit. Der in Flensburg geborene Musiker studierte an der renommierten Musikhochschule Köln und gehörte bereits 1989 zu den ersten Absolventen des Bundesjazzorchesters unter Leitung von Peter Herbolzheimer. Ein DAAD-Stipendium ermöglichte ihm zwischen 1996 und 1998 ein Master-Studium in Jazzkomposition und Performance an der New York University. Seither hat Wind mit einigen der größten Namen des Jazz zusammengearbeitet, darunter Hank Jones, Frank Wess, Mark Murphy, Johnny Griffin, Cedar Walton, Michael Brecker, Don Friedman, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Fred Hersch oder Kenny Barron. Wind leitet mehrere eigene Combos, mit denen er bereits zahlreiche Alben unter eigenem Namen veröffentlicht hat. Sein Duo mit Gitarrist Ulf Meyer hat sich mittlerweile zum Quartett entwickelt und begeistert Jazzfans weltweit. Neben seinen Aktivitäten als Musiker ist Wind auch als Dozent tätig und unterrichtet seit 1997 an der Jazzabteilung der New York University. Für seine Leistungen wurde Martin Wind mit zahlreichen Preisen und Auszeichnungen geehrt, darunter der dritte Platz beim renommierten Thelonious-Monk-Wettbewerb im Jahr 1995 und als erster Jazzmusiker überhaupt der Förderpreis im Rahmen des Kunstpreises Schleswig-Holstein im Jahr 2000.

Peter Weniger gehört zu den gefragtesten Instrumentalisten der europäischen Jazzszene. Der heute in Berlin lebende Saxofonist spielte im Verlauf seiner bisherigen Karriere unter anderem mit Musikern wie John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum, Conrad Herwig, Jeff Hamilton oder Dave Liebman auf und war auch auf CDs und in Konzerten mit Jasper van't Hoff, Eddie Palmieri, Billy Cobham, Jean Louis Matinier u.v.a. zu hören. Neben seinen Live - Aktivitäten unterrichtet Weniger seit 1999 im Rahmen einer Professur an der "Universität der Künste"- Berlin und ist war bis Mitte 2019 der künstlerische Leiter des Jazz- Institutes.

Jonas Burgwinkel ist ein herausragender, für seine einzigartige Spielweise international gefragter Jazzschlagzeuger. Zahlreiche Auszeichnungen wie u.a. der “ECHO JAZZ 2012”, der SWR- und der WDR-Jazzpreis, der “BEST SOLOIST AWARD” auf dem North Sea Jazzfestival, sowie über 50 CDs und unzählige Radio- und Fernsehmitschnitte dokumentieren den Erfolg seines musikalischen Wirkens. Burgwinkel spielt weltweit, u.a. mit Jazzgrößen wie John Scofield, Chris Potter, Uri Caine, Dave Liebman, Lee Konitz oder John Taylor. Eine besonders intensive musikalische Zusammenarbeit besteht mit dem international präsenten Pablo Held Trio. Im Jahr 2011 folgte Jonas Burgwinkel einer Berufung als Professor für Jazzschlagzeug an die Kölner Hochschule für Musik und Tanz.

The album title refers to gravity as a metaphorical concept that encompasses various aspects of music and the musicians' relationships with each other. For Martin Wind, the trio's bassist and bandleader, the double bass forms the center of the ensemble and is comparable to the sun holding the planetary system together. The chemistry between the members of the trio is palpable and has led to a special energy on their first album. The program consists of pieces with different styles and moods, including toe-tapping swing, expressive blues and soulful ballads. All in all, Martin Wind, Peter Weniger and Jonas Burgwinkel create a musical gravitational field with "Gravity" that is hard to escape. The musicians' joy of playing and virtuosity are impressive and make the album a real listening experience.

Martin Wind is one of Germany's leading jazz bassists and is internationally renowned for his virtuoso playing and creative composition work. Born in Flensburg, he studied at the renowned Musikhochschule in Cologne and was one of the first graduates of the Bundesjazzorchester under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer as early as 1989. A DAAD scholarship enabled him to study for a master's degree in jazz composition and performance at New York University between 1996 and 1998. Since then, Wind has collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Hank Jones, Frank Wess, Mark Murphy, Johnny Griffin, Cedar Walton, Michael Brecker, Don Friedman, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Fred Hersch and Kenny Barron. Wind leads several of his own combos, with which he has released numerous albums under his own name. His duo with guitarist Ulf Meyer has now evolved into a quartet, delighting jazz fans worldwide. In addition to his activities as a musician, Wind is also active as a lecturer and has been teaching at the Jazz Department of New York University since 1997. Martin Wind has been honored with numerous prizes and awards for his achievements, including third place in the renowned Thelonious Monk Competition in 1995 and the first jazz musician ever to receive the sponsorship award as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Art Prize in 2000.

Peter Weniger is one of the most sought-after instrumentalists on the European jazz scene. In the course of his career to date, the saxophonist, who now lives in Berlin, has performed with musicians such as John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum, Conrad Herwig, Jeff Hamilton and Dave Liebman, and has also appeared on CDs and in concerts with Jasper van't Hoff, Eddie Palmieri, Billy Cobham, Jean Louis Matinier and many others. In addition to his live - activities, Weniger teaches since 1999 as part of a professorship at the "University of the Arts"- Berlin and was the artistic director of the Jazz Institute until mid-2019.

Jonas Burgwinkel is an outstanding jazz drummer, internationally sought after for his unique playing style. Numerous awards such as the "ECHO JAZZ 2012", the SWR and the WDR Jazz Prize, the "BEST SOLOIST AWARD" at the North Sea Jazz Festival, among others, as well as over 50 CDs and countless radio and television recordings document the success of his musical work. Burgwinkel plays worldwide, among others with jazz greats such as John Scofield, Chris Potter, Uri Caine, Dave Liebman, Lee Konitz or John Taylor. A particularly intensive musical collaboration exists with the internationally present Pablo Held Trio. In 2011 Jonas Burgwinkel followed an appointment as professor for jazz percussion at the Cologne University of Music and Dance.
