Ludwig Hornung, laut FAZ ein "inspirierender Pianist" und laut JAZZ THING "ein Anschlagsfarbenmeister, dessen Musik stets etwas zu sagen hat", lädt international bekannte und umtriebige Freunde und Kollegen aus der Berliner Jazzszene ein, um zusammen mit ihnen und dem Publikum im Besten Sinne der Tradition emporzusteigen: Going Up! ist das Motto des Abends: Mal energetisch, mal melancholisch, jedoch immer mit Intensität und Verve. Gespielt werden Eigenkompositionen und Kompositionen anderer, von Miles Davis über Wayne Shorter und Ornette Coleman zu Thelonious Monk.

Der Pianist Ludwig Hornung, geboren 1986 in Bad Dürkheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, gewann bereits in seiner Jugendzeit unzählige erste Preise bei „Jugend musiziert“ und „Jugend jazzt“. Während seines Klavier-Studiums in Stuttgart war er Mitglied der Backingband „Soulfood International", mit der er namhafte Raggae-Musiker wie Rico Rodriguez, Derrick Morgan und Alton Ellis bei Konzerten, Festivals und Tourneen in ganz Europa begleitete. 2008 wechselte er dann an das Jazz Institut Berlin, wo er im Juli 2011 sein Bachelor-Studium mit Bestnote abschloss. Er spielte und konzertierte unter anderem mit Wanja Slavin, Rudi Mahall, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tobias Delius, Frank Gratkowski, Felix Wahnschaffe, Ben Kraef, John Schröder, Phil Donkin, Paulo Cardoso, Diego Pinera, Tony Lakatos, u. v. a. Seine musikalischen Tätigkeiten führten ihn nach Frankreich, Dänemark, Italien, Portugal, Spanien, Schweden, Belgien, Tschechien, Russland, Polen, Bulgarien, Österreich, Süd-Korea, in die Schweiz, die Ukraine, die Niederlande, die Türkei und in die USA. 2017 sowie 2018 erhielt Ludwig Hornung ein Stipendium des Berliner Senats.

Magnus Schriefl lebt und wirkt in Berlin. Aufgewachsen im Allgäu in einer musikalischen Umgebung studierte er in Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris und New York. Der umtriebige Virtuose leitet die Bands Subtone und Blume und bespielte alle relevanten deutschen Jazzfestivals, wobei er mit Haudegen wie Johannes Enders, Randy Brecker oder Wanja Slavin die Bühne teilte. 2011 wurde Schriefl mit dem ersten Preis der National Trumpet Competition in Virginia und dem zweiten Preis der Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition ausgezeichnet.

Henrik Walsdorff, der seit 1994 in Berlin lebt, studierte Saxophon bei Herb Geller. Seitdem entwickelte er sich zu einem ausgesprochen vielseitigen Saxophonisten, dessen Palette von Bebop und Balladen bis zur Avantgarde reicht. Er zeichnet sich durch seinen außergewöhnlich schönen, warmen und kraftvollen Ton aus. Er spielte in den Bands von Aki Takase, Marty Cook und Sven-Åke Johansson. Neben John Schröder und Colin Vallon ist er Mitglied des Fabian Gisler Quartet. Mit Martin High de Prime, Kay Lübke und Jan Roder bildet er die Gruppe The Real Latinos, mit John Schröder und Uli Jenneßen die Gruppe Freedom of Speech. Außerdem ist er Mitglied des Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra unter Leitung von Alexander von Schlippenbach, mit dem er auch ein Quartett leitet. 1994 gründete Walsdorf mit John Schröder, Gerold Genßler und Uli Jenneßen die Gruppe LAX, deren Album Time in 60 Seconds 2002 entstand. Auf dem Gebiet der Popmusik arbeitete er unter anderem mit den Gruppen Seeed und Wir sind Helden zusammen.

Matthias Pichler studierte klassischen Kontrabass am Konservatorium Innsbruck und Jazzbass an der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität Linz. 2004 erhielt er den Hans-Koller-Preis, der ein Reisestipendium für einen Aufenthalt in New York beinhaltete. 2006 gewann er den Hans-Koller-Preis in der Kategorie „Sideman des Jahres“ und wurde im selben Jahr auch für den HK „Newcomer“-Award nominiert. 2010 gewann er den ersten Preis beim Jazzwettbewerb des internationalen Kontrabasskongresses „Bass2010“ in Berlin. Matthias war 8 Jahre lang Mitglied des Wolfgang Muthspiel Trios und spielte mit vielen weiteren international renommierten Musikern.

Ivars Arutyunyan ist ein musikalischer, energiegeladener, dynamischer Musiker und Schlagzeuger aus Lettland. Er hat sein ganzes Leben lang Musik studiert verbrachte mehrere Jahre in Kopenhagen und Paris, lebt jetzt in Berlin. Er ist ein aktives Mitglied der europäischen Jazz- und Improvisationsmusikszene und hat mit Künstlern wie Seamus Blake, Greg Osby, Logan Richardson, Jerry Bergonzi, Jesse van Ruller und Carsten Dahl gespielt, um nur einige zu nennen. Er ist in mehr als 30 Ländern aufgetreten und wurde mit dem Großen Lettischen Musikpreis 2022, der Besten Jazzplatte des Jahres in Lettland (2019), dem Grand Prix in Jazz Hoeilaart (BE), dem Almeria Jazz (ESP) und dem Yamaha Drum Day (LV) ausgezeichnet ) usw.
