Larry Goldings und Jake Sherman können eine Menge musikalisches Terrain abdecken und sind dabei auch noch äußerst unterhaltsam. Beide Künstler sind versierte Jazzpianisten und Organisten, aber in einer typischen Goldings/Sherman-Show singt Jake seine wunderschön gestalteten Lieder, spielt chromatische Mundharmonika, liefert sich mit Larry Gitarren-Synthie-Schlachten, improvisieren was das Zeug hält. Außerdem haben wir mitbekommen, dass sich vielleicht auch Larrys und Jakes gemeinsamer Freund Hans Groiner in Berlin aufhalten soll. Mit einer Mischung aus Originalrepertoire und einzigartigen Interpretationen von Liedern von Duke Ellington bis Randy Newman und einer Menge guter Laune liefern Larry und Jake einen Abend mit Musik, die sich nur schwer kategorisieren lässt, aber dafür umso mehr genießen lässt.

Larry Goldings gehört zu den renommiertesten Organisten und Pianisten der internationalen Jazzszene. Durch großes Feingefühl und tiefgreifendes harmonisches Verständnis einerseits und durch die nötige Offenheit und Experimentierfreude andererseits erschafft Goldings eine Musik, die modern und klassisch zur gleichen Zeit ist. 1968 in Boston geboren, hat er u.a. wie Maceo Parker, John Scofield oder Jack DeJohnette sowohl Musik mit sattem Funky-Groove und bluesiger Expressivität gespielt als auch freiere Erkundungen des Jazz-Kosmos angegangen.

Jake Sherman lernte klassisches Klavier, indem er jeden Morgen seinem Vater beim Bach-Spielen zuhörte. Er wäre wohl in dessen Fußstapfen getreten oder Jazzpianist geworden, wäre er nicht in seiner Jugend auf Weird Al Yankovic gestoßen. Jake gründete eine Parodie-Band, sang neu geschriebenen Texte zu Klassikern "All Star" oder "Men in Black" und schrieb eigene Songs. Einige Jahre nach seinem Studium am Berklee College of Music hat Jake einen Weg gefunden, seine Vorliebe für großartiges Songwriting mit seinen Fähigkeiten als Pianist und Organist zu verbinden. Er ist zu einem gefragten Musiker geworden, der mit Rosalia, Chance the Rapper, Meshell Ndegeocello, Emily King, Bilal, Andrew Bird, Nick Hakim und vor allem LARRY GOLDINGS auftritt. Jake hat vier Studioalben unter seinem eigenen Namen veröffentlicht, auf denen er singt und alle Instrumente spielt. Sein neuestes Projekt ist ein Klavier- und Gesangsalbum mit Jazzstandards, das entweder bald veröffentlicht wird oder bereits ein großer Erfolg ist, je nachdem, wann Sie dies lesen.

Larry Goldings and Jake Sherman can cover a lot of musical territory, while being thoroughly entertaining. Both artists are accomplished jazz pianists and organists, but a typical Goldings/Sherman show will also feature Jake singing his beautifully crafted songs, his chromatic harmonica playing, guitar-synth battles, a visit from Larry’s alter-ego, Hans Groiner, and more. With a mix of original repertoire and unique interpretations of songs ranging from Duke Ellington to Randy Newman, Larry and Jake deliver an evening of music that is difficult to categorize, but easy to enjoy. 

Larry Goldings is one of the most renowned organists and pianists on the international jazz scene. Through great sensitivity and profound harmonic understanding on the one hand and through the necessary openness and joy of experimentation on the other, Goldings creates music that is modern and classical at the same time. Born in Boston in 1968, he has played music with a rich funky groove and bluesy expressiveness, as well as tackling freer explorations of the jazz cosmos, like Maceo Parker, John Scofield and Jack DeJohnette, among others.

Born in Boston, Jake Sherman learned classical piano by listening to his father play Bach every morning. If not for an intervention - stumbling upon the catalog of Weird Al Yankovic at 11 years old - he would have followed in his father’s path or perhaps become a jazz purist. But Weird Al changed everything. Jake started a parody band and sang his newly-written lyrics to classics like “All Star” by Smashmouth and “Men in Black” by Will Smith, along with composing new family classics such as “Amy, You’re Turning 49” and “Charles, Charles Sherman.” Fast forward some years beyond his time studying at Berklee College of Music and it’s clear Jake has found a way to combine his appreciation of great songwriting with his piano/organ-playing prowess. He has become a go-to musician on recordings, appearing with Rosalia, Chance the Rapper, Meshell Ndegeocello, Emily King, Bilal, Andrew Bird, Nick Hakim, and most notably LARRY GOLDINGS. Jake has released four studio albums under his own name on which he sings and plays all the instruments. His latest project is a piano and vocal album of jazz standards which will either be released soon or is already a major success, depending on when you are reading this.
