Jorge Rossy ist ohne Zweifel einer der erfolgreichsten Schlagzeuger seiner Generation. Seit einigen Jahren widmet er sich jedoch auch vermehrt dem Studium des Vibraphons und setzt auch hier mit seinem Trio neue Maßstäbe. Die Kritiken zu “Puerta”, erschienen auf ECM waren ausnahmslos positiv und wir freuen uns auf dieses wunderbar intime Treffen dreier Ausnahmekünstler.

• Auf ‘Puerta’ überrascht er als Vibraphonist und Marimbaspieler. Er will sich mehr aufs Erzählen verlegen, und das geht eben mit den Mallets besser. Dabei etabliert er eine völlig neue Erzählweise, die von der seit einem halben Jahrhundert dominierenden Gary-Burton-Schule völlig unabhängig ist. Er schöpft die Poesie jedes einzelnen Tons bis zur Neige aus, ergötzt sich an Zwischenräumen und hört seinen Kompagnons, dem Bassisten Robert Landfermann und dem Drummer Jeff Ballard, ausgiebig zu. Dafür lässt er sich alle Zeit der Welt. ‘Puerta’ ist ein sehr schönes musikalisches Fleckchen, das zum Rückzuug und zur Wiederkehr einlädt.  - Wolf Kampmann

Jorge Rossy ist international anerkannt als einer der einflussreichsten Schlagzeuger seiner Generation. Seine Arbeit als Sideman umfasst mehr als 180 Aufnahmen mit renommierten Jazzmusikern wie Brad Mehldau, Ethan Iverson, Kevin Hays, Albert Sanz, Mark Turner, Chris Cheek, Seamus Blake, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel und Steve Swallow, neben vielen anderen. Jorge hat auch mit einigen Jazzgrößen wie Charlie Haden, Wayne Shorter, Lee Konitz, Carla Bley und Joe Lovano getourt. Neben seiner Arbeit als Schlagzeuger verfügt Jorge über eine unverwechselbare Stimme an Vibraphon, Marimba und Klavier und einen einzigartigen Sound als Komponist und Bandleader.

Robert Landfermann ist einer der profiliertesten deutschen Jazzbassisten und einer der Fackelträger einer neuen Generation an MusikerInnen, die zwischen Jazz, Klassik, populärer Musik und vielen Genres mehr eine künstlerische und gestaltungstechnische Freiheit erreicht haben, die Ihresgleichen sucht. Er spielte im Laufe seiner Karriere mit John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Joachim Kühn, Chris Potter, Mark Turner, Richie Beirach, der WDR Bigband und unzähligen mehr. Für sein Schaffen erhielt er ebenfalls zahlreiche Preise wie bspw. den Deutschen Jazzpreis 2021 und 2022, den SWR- und den WDR Jazzpreis.

Der am 17. September 1963 in Santa Cruz, Kalifornien, USA, geborene Jeff Ballard ist ein "Who's who" des Jazz, wenn es um Aufnahmen und Tourneen geht. Um nur einige wenige der Illustren Weggefährten zu nennen: Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel und Brad Mehldau. Derzeit arbeitet er mit dem Brad Mehldau Trio, als Co-Leader der Gruppe FLY (mit Mark Turner, Ballard und Larry Grenadier) und mit seinen eigenen Gruppen The Jeff Ballard Trio und Jeff Ballard Fairgrounds.

Jorge Rossy is without doubt one of the most successful drummers of his generation. However, for some years now he has also been devoting himself increasingly to the study of the vibraphone, and here too he is setting new standards with his trio. The reviews of "Puerta", released on ECM were without exception positive and we are looking forward to this wonderfully intimate meeting of three exceptional artists.

• On 'Puerta' he surprises as a vibraphonist and marimba player. He wants to focus more on narration, and that works better with the mallets. In doing so, he establishes a completely new way of narrating that is completely independent of the Gary Burton school that has dominated for half a century. He exploits the poetry of every single note to the hilt, revels in the spaces in between and listens extensively to his companions, bassist Robert Landfermann and drummer Jeff Ballard. In addition to his work as a drummer, Jorge has a distinctive voice on vibraphone, marimba and piano and a unique sound as a composer and bandleader.

Robert Landfermann is one of the most distinguished German jazz bassists and one of the torchbearers of a new generation of musicians who have achieved an unparalleled artistic and creative freedom between jazz, classical, popular music and many other genres. In the course of his career he has played with John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Joachim Kühn, Chris Potter, Mark Turner, Richie Beirach, the WDR Bigband and countless others. He has also received numerous awards for his work, such as the German Jazz Prize 2021 and 2022, the SWR and the WDR Jazz Prize.

Jeff Ballard - Born on September 17, 1963, in Santa Cruz, CA, USA, Ballard’s past and present recording sessions and touring associates read like a who’s who of jazz. To name a select few: Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Brad Mehldau. His present work continues with the Brad Mehldau Trio, as co-leader of collective group FLY (featuring Mark Turner, Ballard, and Larry Grenadier) and with his own groups The Jeff Ballard Trio and Jeff Ballard Fairgrounds.
