Mit seinem Debut-Album 'Aguazul' präsentiert Jonatan Morgenstern ein farbenprächtiges Klangwerk. Zwischen erhabener Leichtigkeit, melancholischem Sinnieren und leidenschaftlichen Rhythmus zieht der Berliner Jazz-Musiker alle Register seines Könnens und spannt einen weiten, improvisatorischen Bogen von energetischem Jazz zu introvertierter Verspieltheit. Mit dem aus Uruguay stammenden Schlagzeuger und Echo-Preisträger Diego Pinera und dem international renommierten US-Amerikaner Josh Ginsburg am Kontrabass hat der Pianist gleich zwei Vertreter der aktuellen Spitze des Jazz für sein erstes Album gewinnen können. In klassischer Trio-Besetzung liefern sie sich einen packenden Austausch kreativer Energie, in der jeder der drei Musiker seine eigene musikalische Interpretation findet.
'Aguazul' ist ein faszinierendes Tongemälde, das die vielseitigen Einflüsse und Erlebnisse der einzelnen Stücke heraushören lässt und sie gleichzeitig zu einem harmonischen Ganzen vereint. Jeder Song hat einen anderen Rhythmus und nimmt die Hörer mit auf eine phantasievolle Reise in jene Geschichten und Bilder, die Ausgangspunkt seiner Komposition sind. Dabei gelingt Morgenstern als Newcomer ein äußerst reifer, weitsichtiger Blick für Dramaturgie, Dynamik, Spannung und Atmosphäre. Das Ergebnis ist eine Hommage an die Vielfalt des Jazz und die Freiheit der Improvisation.

Jonatan Morgenstern begann als Jugendlicher aus eigenem Interesse Klavier zu lernen. Mit 16 Jahren beschloss er Jazz zu studieren und begann die studienvorbereitende Ausbildung an diversen Berliner Musikschulen. Während dieser Zeit erhielt er auch Unterricht im klassischen Klavier, Ensemble, Komposition und sammelte Bühnenerfahrung in der Berliner Musikszene. 2017 begann er sein Bachelor-Studium an der HMTM Hannover. Der Multiinstrumentalist, er spielt und unterrichtet neben dem Klavier auch noch E-Bass, Schlagzeug und arbeitet als Produzent, gilt als eines der aufstrebendsten Talente der deutschen Jazzszene.

Josh Ginsburg ist eine feste Größe auf den Konzertbühnen und in den Jazzclubs der Welt. Sein jüngstes Album als Leader, "Zembla Variations", wurde vom New York City Jazz Record zum Album des Jahres gewählt. Als New Yorker Musiker der ersten Stunde trat er regelmäßig mit zahlreichen einflussreichen Musikern auf und war auf internationalen Tourneen mit Bands von Kurt Rosenwinkel, David Friedman, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, George Colligan, Jure Pukl, Logan Richardson, Diego Piñera, Tino Derado und Aruán Ortiz.

Diego Pinera, preisgekrönter Jazzvirtuose, ist eine einzigartige Persönlichkeit, die der Musik wirklich neue Wege weist, indem er die poetisch-rhythmische Freiheit des Jazz anderen metrischen Systemen gegenüberstellt. Seit 2002 wurde Diego Piñera sowohl als Drummer „Instrumentalist“ als auch als Songwriter international wie national mehrfach ausgezeichnet, zuletzt mit dem ECHO JAZZ 2017. Das bei ACT Records erschienene Album Odd Wisdom kam in die Grammy-Vorauswahl. Er gilt als Ausnahmekünstler seines Faches. Sein charakterstarker persönlicher Stil ist geprägt durch ein avanciert rhythmisches Spielkonzept, ein Jazz-Sound mit Latin-Touch sowie dem Freiheitdrang der Improvisation. Musikalische Komplexität sowie Virtuosität bleiben bei Pinera aber stets subtil, eine besondere Frische und Leichtigkeit durchströmt sein künstlerisches Schaffen.

Each song has a different rhythm and takes the listener on an imaginative journey into the stories and images that are the starting point of his composition. As a newcomer, Morgenstern succeeds in taking a very mature and far-sighted view of dramaturgy, dynamics, tension and atmosphere. The result is a tribute to the diversity of jazz and the freedom of improvisation.

Jonatan Morgenstern began learning the piano as a teenager out of his own interest. At the age of 16 he decided to study jazz and started the preparatory training at various Berlin music schools. During this time he also received lessons in classical piano, ensemble, composition and gained stage experience in the Berlin music scene. In 2017, he began his bachelor's studies at HMTM Hannover. The multi-instrumentalist, in addition to piano he also plays and teaches electric bass, drums and works as a producer, is considered one of the most up-and-coming talents in the German jazz scene.

Josh Ginsburg is a fixture on concert stages and in jazz clubs around the world. His most recent album as a leader, "Zembla Variations", was named Album of the Year by the New York City Jazz Record. A New York musician from the beginning, he has performed regularly with many influential musicians and has toured internationally with bands led by Kurt Rosenwinkel, David Friedman, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, George Colligan, Jure Pukl, Logan Richardson, Diego Piñera, Tino Derado and Aruán Ortiz.

Diego Pinera, award-winning jazz virtuoso, is a unique personality who truly breaks new ground for music by juxtaposing the poetic-rhythmic freedom of jazz with other metric systems. Since 2002, Diego Piñera has received numerous awards both internationally and nationally as a drummer "instrumentalist" and songwriter, most recently the ECHO JAZZ 2017, and the album Odd Wisdom, released on ACT Records, was a Grammy pre-selection. He is considered an exceptional artist in his field. His strong character personal style is characterized by an advanced rhythmic playing concept, a jazz sound with a Latin touch as well as the freedom urge of improvisation. Musical complexity as well as virtuosity always remain subtle with Pinera, a special freshness and lightness flows through his artistic work.
