Jeremy Pelt hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren vom Geheimtipp zum Weltstar in der Jazzperipherie entwickelt. Von Musikerkollegen mehr als hochgeschätzt, überzeugt der Visionär mit einem gefühlvollen und ausdrucksstarken Ton, trotz seiner präzisen und geradezu messerscharfen Artikulation. Ohne Zweifel ist er einer der herausragenden jungen Trompeter dieser Generation. Mit seinem neu formierten Quintett präsentiert Jeremy nach seinem atemberaubenden letztjährigen Konzert ein gänzlich neues Programm, unter anderem mit neuen Songs aus seinem bald erscheinenden neuen Album.

Pelt spielt schon seit seiner frühesten Kindheit Trompete und studierte am renommierten Berklee College. Er zog nach seiner Graduierung nach New York und eroberte die Szene wie im Sturm. Zu seinen Kollaborationen gehören Auftritte und Aufnahmen mit Wayne Shorter, Jimmy Heath, Ravi Coltrane, John Hicks, Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson, Louis Hayes, Mulgrew Miller, Lewis Nash und Wayne Escoffery. Diese Liste ließe sich noch lange weiterführen.

Pelt tritt häufig mit so namhaften Ensembles wie der Roy Hargrove Big Band, dem Village Vanguard Orchestra und der Duke Ellington Big Band auf und ist Mitglied des Lewis Nash Septet und der Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band featuring Louis Hayes. Als Leader hat Pelt über Alben aufgenommen und ist mit seinen verschiedenen Ensembles weltweit auf Tournee gegangen, wobei er auf vielen großen Jazzfestivals und in vielen Konzertsälen aufgetreten ist.

Pelts Aufnahmen und Auftritte haben ihm sowohl national als auch international die Anerkennung der Kritiker eingebracht. Der legendäre Jazzautor und -produzent Nat Hentoff hat ihn im Wall Street Journal vorgestellt, und das Downbeat Magazine und die Jazz Journalist Association haben ihn fünf Jahre in Folge zum Rising Star auf der Trompete gewählt.

Neben seiner musikalischen Tätigkeit ist Jeremy Pelt als Autor tätig und hat mit seiner Buchreihe Griot bedeutenden Beitrag dazu geleistet das Erbe und die Herkunft bedeutender JazzmusikerInnen in Bezug auf ihre afroamerikanische Herkunft aufzuarbeiten und zu studieren.

Pelt's recordings and performances have earned him critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. Legendary jazz writer and producer Nat Hentoff has featured him in the Wall Street Journal, and Downbeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalist Association have named him a Rising Star on the trumpet for five consecutive years.

In addition to his musical activities, Jeremy Pelt is an author and has made significant contributions to the study of the heritage and origins of significant jazz musicians in relation to their African American heritage through his book series Griot.
