Seit über einem Jahr zelebriert der Hot Club Berlin die Musik Django Reinhardts und seiner Weggefährten im ZigZag Jazzclub vor begeistertem Publikum. Und im letzten Sommer konnten wir endlich die Premiere des Hot Club Orchestras feiern, welches nun in die nächste Runde geht!

Der Hot Club of Berlin wird von Francisco Batista & Thomas Dekas geleitet, stilistisch erfahrene Gitarristen, die schon mit den großen Namen der Gypsy-Jazz-Welt wie Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara, Sebastien Giniaux auf der Bühne standen. Zusammen mit den besten Hot-Jazz-Cats der Stadt bilden sie nun in wechselnder Besetzung eine der frischesten und spannendsten Bands der Stadt!

Das Hot Club Orchestra adaptiert die Stücke Django Reinhardts und andere Gypsy-Jazz-Klassiker für ein mehrköpfiges Ensemble und featured dabei immer einen herausragenden Solisten. Dieses Mal ist es Gianni Gagliardi! Freuen Sie sich auf ein ganz besonderes musikalisches Erlebnis und kommen Sie mit auf eine Zeitreise zur Geburtsstunde des europäischen Jazz!

Der aus Barcelona stammende Gianni Gagliardi “ein aufsteigender Stern in der Brooklyner Jazzszene", wie Ron Netsky von der Rochester City Newspaper schreibt. Sein einzigartiger Sound, seine Originalität und seine künstlerische Integrität haben es ihm ermöglicht, auf der ganzen Welt in den unterschiedlichsten Situationen aufzutreten, von Jazz bis Flamenco mit Größen wie Al Foster, John Clayton, Dick Oats, Gilad Hekselman oder Jordi Rossy. Er war Student am Berklee College of Music, der State University of New York, dem Conservatorium van Amsterdam und dem Conservatoire National Superior de Paris. Gianni ist der Gründer von BCN Jazz Collective, einem Label und einer Plattform für junge Komponisten, um ihre Werke zu veröffentlichen und zu fördern. Er ist gefragter Sideman und Leader; seine Aufnahmen sind von der internationalen Kritik in den höchsten Tönen gelobt worden.

Der Wahlberliner Fritz Moshammer ist Trompeter und Komponist mit Wurzeln im Rheinland. Als Jazz- und Studiomusiker wirkt er in vielseitigen Projekten mit und gibt zahlreiche Konzerte im In- und Ausland. Derzeit ist Fritz Moshammer Teil der Band von Alvaro Soler mit Konzerten in ganz Europa. Zudem tourte er 5 Jahre mit Mark Forster im ganzen deutschsprachigen Raum.

Bastian Duncker wurde 1989 in Kiel geboren und spielt verschiedene Blasinstrumente, hauptsächlich Alt- und Baritonsaxophon. 2007-2012 Studium am Jazz-Institut Berlin bei Peter Weniger, Greg Cohen und Claudio Puntin. 2012-2013 war er Artist in Residence bei „musicmatters“ in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Seit 2014 ist er fester Bestandteil der Hausband des Berliner Plattenlabels Philophon und aktiver Part der Berliner Jazzszene. Aufritte und Veröffentlichungen hatte er mit Stella Chiweshe, Gunter Hampel, Hayden Chisholm, Guy One & the Polyversal Souls, Hailu Mergia, John Hollenbeck, Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids, Alèmayèhu Eshèté, James Wylie, Pain Perdu, Jimi Tenor, Kati Brien, Deutsches Sinfonie-Orchester. Konzerttourneen und Workshops führten ihn unter anderem in Algerien, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Elfenbeinküste, Mexiko, Sri Lanka, Indien, Europa, USA, Kanada.

Eldar Tsalikov zog 2011 nach ersten Studien in seiner Heimtar nach Berlin, wo er sein Studium am "Jazz-Institut Berlin" begann und die Klarinette zum Saxophon als zweites Instrument dazu nahm. 2018 schloss Eldar das Institut erfolgreich mit dem Bachelor-Abschluss als Instrumentalist sowie dem Master-Abschluss als Arrangeur und Komponist ab. Als geschickter und vielseitiger Musiker hat Eldar sein Wissen über Jazzmusik (und nicht nur das) erweitert und mit zahlreichen europäischen und westlichen Interpreten der verschiedenen Arten dieses Genres zusammengearbeitet: von den tiefgründigen traditionellen Stilen, wie "Hot Jazz" (oder "Trad Jazz") und Swing bis hin zu modernen Formen des Jazz und der experimentellen Musik (Greg Cohen, Joey Baron, Laurie Anderson, Elias Stemeseder, Manlio Maresca, "The HAF", Anna Webbers "Percussive Mechanics"). Mit diesen und vielen anderen Künstlern reiste Eldar durch verschiedene Länder und trat in weltweit anerkannten Veranstaltungsorten und Konzertsälen auf.

Declan Forde ist ein Pianist aus Schottland und lebt seit 2014 in Berlin. In den letzten Jahren hat sich Forde in Berlin zu einem unfassbar vielseitigen Pianisten entwickelt, der in so gut wie jedem musikalischen Kontext zuhause ist. Vom Early Jazz mit Igor Spallati's Musicomaniacs, über die Aufführung der Musik von Duke Ellington mit dem amerikanischen Bassisten Greg Cohen (Ornette Coleman, John Zorn, Woody Allen, etc.); Originalmusik mit James Banner's Usine bis hin zu frei improvisierter Musik mit Künstlern wie Jeff Williams, John Hollenbeck, Tobias Delius, Max Andrzejewski, Cansu Tanrikulu, Rudi Mahal, Jan Roder und Michael Griener. Forde tritt auch solo auf und wurde von den Berliner Festspielen eingeladen, im Rahmen der Installation "Antoine's Organ" des amerikanischen Künstlers Rashid Johnson im Berliner Gropius Bau von Juli bis Dezember 2019 aufzutreten. Außerhalb der Welt des Jazz und der improvisierten Musik tritt Forde seit über zehn Jahren mit der schottischen Sängerin und Künstlerin Rachel Sermanni auf, tourt mit ihr und macht Aufnahmen.

James Banner ist ein Musiker und Komponist, der in Berlin lebt. Er tritt in einer Vielzahl von Konstellationen in den Bereichen Jazz, improvisierte und zeitgenössische Musik in Projekten wie James Banner's USINE, Birgitta Flick Quartet und Tilo Weber Quartet auf: Four Fauns, sowie als Komponist für gemeinsame Projekte mit Künstlern und Kollektiven wie Stephanie Lamprea und The Arc Project. Seine Musik wurde von der BBC, der PRS Foundation, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, der Initiative Musik und dem Berliner Senat unterstützt und vorgestellt. James ist derzeit Co-Kurator der monatlichen Residency Practically Married (mit Declan Forde) im Berliner Donau115 und Gastdozent für Improvisation am Leeds College of Music.

For over a year, the Hot Club Berlin has been celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt and his contemporaries at the ZigZag Jazz Club, captivating audiences with their performances. This summer, we finally had the long-awaited premiere of the Hot Club Orchestra, which is now set to take the stage again!

The Hot Club of Berlin is led by Francisco Batista and Thomas Dekas, seasoned guitarists who have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the Gypsy Jazz world, including Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara, and Sebastien Giniaux. Together with the best Hot Jazz musicians in the city, they form one of the freshest and most exciting bands in Berlin, with a rotating lineup that keeps every performance dynamic and engaging!

Barcelona native Gianni Gagliardi "a rising star on the Brooklyn jazz scene," as Ron Netsky of the Rochester City Newspaper writes. His unique sound, originality and artistic integrity have enabled him to perform around the world in a wide variety of settings, from jazz to flamenco with the likes of Al Foster, John Clayton, Dick Oats, Gilad Hekselman and Jordi Rossy. He has been a student at Berklee College of Music, the State University of New York, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Conservatoire National Superior de Paris. Fritz Moshammer, a Berliner by choice, is a trumpeter and composer with roots in the Rhineland. As a jazz and studio musician, he is involved in a wide range of projects and gives numerous concerts at home and abroad. Fritz Moshammer is currently part of Alvaro Soler's band, playing concerts throughout Europe. He also toured with Mark Forster throughout the German-speaking world for 5 years.

Bastian Duncker was born in 1989 in Kiel, Germany.
From 2007 to 2012 he studied saxophone at the "Jazz-Institut Berlin“. 
Since then, he continued to live in Berlin and be an active part of the city’s music scene, collaborating with musicians from many different backgrounds. He can be heard with the Omniversal Earkestra, the Rufus Temple Orchestra, 3ZVO and the Magnetic Ghost Orchestra. He has also played and/or recorded with Stella Chiweshe, Gunter Hampel, Hayden Chisholm, Guy One, Hailu Mergia, Keyvan Chemirani, Efren Lopez, John Hollenbeck, Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids, Alèmayèhu Eshèté, Jimi Tenor, The Polyversal Souls, Aly Keïta, Cheick Tidiane Seck.

Eldar Tsalikov moved to Berlin in 2011 after initial studies in his native Tar, where he began his studies at the "Jazz Institute Berlin" and added the clarinet to the saxophone as a second instrument. In 2018, Eldar successfully graduated from the institute with a Bachelor's degree as an instrumentalist and a Master's degree as an arranger and composer. A skilled and versatile musician, Eldar has expanded his knowledge of jazz music (and not only that), collaborating with numerous European and Western performers of the various types of this genre: from the profound traditional styles, such as "hot jazz" (or "trad jazz") and swing, to modern forms of jazz and experimental music (Greg Cohen, Joey Baron, Laurie Anderson, Elias Stemeseder, Manlio Maresca, "The HAF", Anna Webber's "Percussive Mechanics"). With these and many other artists, Eldar has traveled throughout various countries, performing in world-renowned venues and concert halls.

Declan Forde is a pianist from Scotland and has lived in Berlin since 2014. In recent years, Forde has developed into an incredibly versatile pianist in Berlin who is at home in almost every musical context. From early jazz with Igor Spallati's Musicomaniacs, to performing the music of Duke Ellington with American bassist Greg Cohen (Ornette Coleman, John Zorn, Woody Allen, etc.); original music with James Banner's Usine to freely improvised music with artists such as Jeff Williams, John Hollenbeck, Tobias Delius, Max Andrzejewski, Cansu Tanrikulu, Rudi Mahal, Jan Roder and Michael Griener. Forde also performs solo and was invited by the Berliner Festspiele to perform as part of the installation "Antoine's Organ" by American artist Rashid Johnson at the Gropius Bau in Berlin from July to December 2019. Outside the world of jazz and improvised music, Forde has been performing, touring and recording with Scottish singer and artist Rachel Sermanni for over ten years.

James Banner was born in Dudley, England and is now based in Berlin, working as an improvising musician and composer. Current projects include: USINE with Cansu Tanrıkulu, Max Andrzejewski and Declan Forde; commissioning, workshopping and recording new solo pieces for double bass and presenting his solo programme; Borage with Megan Jowett; Machair Duo with Stephanie Lamprea focusing on commissioning and developing electro-acoustic works in collaboration with composers, and class-work. He also co-curates the bi-monthly improvised music residency Practically Married with pianist Declan Forde at Berlin’s Donau115.
