Seit über einem Jahr zelebriert der Hot Club Berlin die Musik Django Reinhardts und seiner Weggefährten im ZigZag Jazzclub vor begeistertem Publikum. Und in diesem Sommer konnten wir endlich die Premiere des Hot Club Orchestras feiern, welches nun in die nächste Runde geht!

Der Hot Club of Berlin wird von Francisco Batista & Thomas Dekas geleitet, stilistisch erfahrene Gitarristen, die schon mit den großen Namen der Gypsy-Jazz-Welt wie Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara, Sebastien Giniaux auf der Bühne standen. Zusammen mit den besten Hot-Jazz-Cats der Stadt bilden sie nun in wechselnder Besetzung eine der frischesten und spannendsten Bands der Stadt!

Das Hot Club Orchestra adaptiert die Stücke Django Reinhardts und andere Gypsy-Jazz-Klassiker für ein mehrköpfiges Ensemble, dieses mal unter Mitwirkung von vier fantastischen SolistInnen: Johannes Böhmer an der Trompete, Bastian Duncker am Saxophon und Marleen Dahms an der Posaune. Freuen Sie sich auf ein ganz besonderes musikalisches Erlebnis und kommen Sie mit auf eine Zeitreise zur Geburtsstunde des europäischen Jazz!

Johannes Böhmer aus Göttingen kam schon früh mit Musik in Berührung; nach Erfahrungen mit Gesang und Klavier bleibt er bei der Trompete. Später studierte er Jazztrompete in Amsterdam und Philadelphia, 2010 zog er nach Berlin, wo er bis heute wohnt und sich als Instrumentalist, Arrangeur und Komponist in vielen Projekten einbringt. Er fühlt sich in vielen unterschiedlichen musikalischen Umgebungen wohl, und spielt genauso gerne als Solist wie als Ensemblemitglied. Neben den Jazz-Projekten in der Berliner Szene liegt der Schwerpunkt dabei auf kreativen Großensemles (z.B. Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, Magnetic Ghost Orchestra, Omniversal Earkestra, Ete Large ), Trad Jazz ( Rufus Temple Orchestra, Syncopation Society Orchestra) und im Afrobeat.

Bastian Duncker wurde 1989 in Kiel geboren und spielt verschiedene Blasinstrumente, hauptsächlich Alt- und Baritonsaxophon. 2007-2012 Studium am Jazz-Institut Berlin bei Peter Weniger, Greg Cohen und Claudio Puntin. 2012-2013 war er Artist in Residence bei „musicmatters“ in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Seit 2014 ist er fester Bestandteil der Hausband des Berliner Plattenlabels Philophon und aktiver Part der Berliner Jazzszene. Aufritte und Veröffentlichungen hatte er mit Stella Chiweshe, Gunter Hampel, Hayden Chisholm, Guy One & the Polyversal Souls, Hailu Mergia, John Hollenbeck, Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids, Alèmayèhu Eshèté, James Wylie, Pain Perdu, Jimi Tenor, Kati Brien, Deutsches Sinfonie-Orchester. Konzerttourneen und Workshops führten ihn unter anderem in Algerien, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Elfenbeinküste, Mexiko, Sri Lanka, Indien, Europa, USA, Kanada.

Marleen Dahms ist eine Berliner Posaunistin und Komponistin. Sie studierte am Jazz-Insitut Berlin, sowie in Luzern, Leipzig und Barcelona. Neben Ihrem Quintet „ A//OY“ für das Sie komponiert, spielt/e Sie in zahlreichen anderen Projekten wie z.B dem "Andromeda Mega Express", „Magnetic Ghost Orchestra“, "Été Large", „Panda Do Sol“, „Mop Mop“, "Babylon Orchestra", „Zaunkoenig“, „Skazka Orchestra“, „Omniversal Earkestra.

For over a year, the Hot Club Berlin has been celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt and his contemporaries at the ZigZag Jazz Club, captivating audiences with their performances. This summer, we finally had the long-awaited premiere of the Hot Club Orchestra, which is now set to take the stage again!

The Hot Club of Berlin is led by Francisco Batista and Thomas Dekas, seasoned guitarists who have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the Gypsy Jazz world, including Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara, and Sebastien Giniaux. Together with the best Hot Jazz musicians in the city, they form one of the freshest and most exciting bands in Berlin, with a rotating lineup that keeps every performance dynamic and engaging!

The Hot Club Orchestra adapts Django Reinhardt's compositions and other Gypsy Jazz classics for a larger ensemble, and this time they will be joined by four fantastic soloists: Johannes Böhmer on trumpet, Bastian Duncker on saxophone, and Marleen Dahms on trombone. Prepare for a truly special musical experience and join us on a journey back to the birth of European jazz!

Johannes Böhmer from Göttingen came into contact with music at an early age; after gaining experience with singing and piano, he stuck with the trumpet. He later studied jazz trumpet in Amsterdam and Philadelphia and moved to Berlin in 2010, where he still lives today and is involved in many projects as an instrumentalist, arranger and composer. He feels at home in many different musical environments and enjoys playing both as a soloist and as a member of an ensemble. In addition to jazz projects in the Berlin scene, his focus is on creative large-scale ensembles (e.g. Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, Magnetic Ghost Orchestra, Omniversal Earkestra, Ete Large), Trad Jazz (Rufus Temple Orchestra, Syncopation Society Orchestra) and Afrobeat.

Bastian Duncker was born in 1989 in Kiel, Germany.
From 2007 to 2012 he studied saxophone at the "Jazz-Institut Berlin“. 
Since then, he continued to live in Berlin and be an active part of the city’s music scene, collaborating with musicians from many different backgrounds. He can be heard with the Omniversal Earkestra, the Rufus Temple Orchestra, 3ZVO and the Magnetic Ghost Orchestra. He has also played and/or recorded with Stella Chiweshe, Gunter Hampel, Hayden Chisholm, Guy One, Hailu Mergia, Keyvan Chemirani, Efren Lopez, John Hollenbeck, Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids, Alèmayèhu Eshèté, Jimi Tenor, The Polyversal Souls, Aly Keïta, Cheick Tidiane Seck.

Marleen Dahms is berlin based trombonist and composer. She studied at the Jazz-Institute Berlin, as well as in Lucerne, Leipzig and Barcelona. Besides her quintet A//OY for which she composes, she also plays/ed in numerous other projects such as "Andromeda Mega Express", „Magnetic Ghost Orchestra“, "Été Large", „Panda Do Sol“, „Mop Mop“, "Babylon Orchestra", „Zaunkoenig“, „Skazka Orchestra“, „Omniversal Earkestra.
