Seit über einem Jahr zelebriert der Hot Club Berlin die Musik Django Reinhardts und seiner Weggefährten im ZigZag Jazzclub vor begeistertem Publikum. Nach den überaus erfolgreichen Ausgaben ihres Larger Ensembles Hot Club Orchestra präsentiert das nimmermüde Ensemble nun wieder eine Ausgabe in intimerer Formation!

Der Hot Club of Berlin wird von Francisco Batista & Thomas Dekas geleitet, stilistisch erfahrene Gitarristen, die schon mit den großen Namen der Gypsy-Jazz-Welt wie Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara, Sebastien Giniaux auf der Bühne standen. Zusammen mit den besten Hot-Jazz-Cats der Stadt bilden sie nun in wechselnder Besetzung eine der frischesten und spannendsten Bands der Stadt!

Der japanisch-amerikanische Geiger und Songschreiber Davis West ist tief im Jazz, in der klassischen Musik und in der Bluegrass-Fiddle verwurzelt. Er hat an der University of Michigan und am Berklee College of Music studiert und stand bereits mit Künstlern wie Al Di Meola und Chris Thile auf der Bühne. Der in Berlin lebende Davis arbeitet regelmäßig mit lokalen Projekten wie dem Hot Club of Berlin, dem Kammerjazz Kollektiv und dem STEGREIF.orchester zusammen und hat für verschiedene Künstler und Ensembles wie Kurt Rosenwinkel, Roland Kaiser und das NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester aufgenommen. Seine selbstproduzierte Diskografie umfasst zwei Alben und zwei EPs.

George Birkett ist ein englischer Gitarrist, der seit 2018 in Berlin arbeitet. In der Stadt ist er als einer der versiertesten Swing-Gitarristen bekannt und gefragt; seit Ende der Pandemie spielt er im bekannten Orchester von Swingstar Andrej Hermlin.

Ben Lehmann wurde im März 1990, also zwischen Mauerfall und Wiedervereinigung, in Berlin geboren. Über Umwege ist er seit einigen Jahre beim Kontrabass und vor allem akustischen Jazz gelandet und fühlt sich dort äußerst wohl. Beeinflusst und inspriert von der Jazz Szene Berlins um Protagonisten wie Rudi Mahall, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Jan Roder, Axel Dörner, Henrik Walsdorff, usw... entschloss er 2012 sich zu einem Musikstudium in Saarbrücken bei Stefan Scheib, welches dann im Herbst 2015 durch die Rückkehr nach Berlin sein Ende fand. Seither ist er aktiver Teil der hiesigen Szene und ein vielbeschäftigter Sideman.

For over a year now, the Hot Club Berlin has been celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt and his companions in front of an enthusiastic audience at the ZigZag Jazzclub. After the extremely successful editions of their Larger Ensemble Hot Club Orchestra, the tireless ensemble now presents another edition in a more intimate formation!

The Hot Club of Berlin is led by Francisco Batista & Thomas Dekas, stylistically experienced guitarists who have already performed on stage with the big names of the gypsy jazz world such as Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara and Sebastien Giniaux. Together with the city's best hot jazz cats, they now form one of the freshest and most exciting bands in town!

Japanese-American violinist and songwriter Davis West is deeply rooted in jazz, classical, and bluegrass fiddle styles. With degrees from the University of Michigan and Berklee College of Music, he has shared stages with artists like Al Di Meola and Chris Thile. Based in Berlin, Davis collaborates regularly with local projects such as the Hot Club of Berlin, Kammerjazz Kollektiv, and STEGREIF.orchester and has recorded for various artists and ensembles including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Roland Kaiser and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester. His self-produced discography includes two albums and two EPs.

George Birkett is an English guitarist who has been working in Berlin since 2018. He is known and in demand in the city as one of the most accomplished swing guitarists; since the end of the pandemic he has been playing in swing star Andrej Hermlin's famous orchestra.

Ben Lehmann was born in Berlin in March 1990, between the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification. In a roundabout way, he landed on the double bass and acoustic jazz in particular a few years ago and feels very much at home there. Influenced and inspired by the Berlin jazz scene around protagonists such as Rudi Mahall, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Jan Roder, Axel Dörner, Henrik Walsdorff, etc... In 2012, he decided to study music in Saarbrücken with Stefan Scheib, which came to an end in the fall of 2015 when he returned to Berlin. Since then he has been an active part of the local scene and a busy sideman.
