Ursprünglich gegründet von Keyboarder Henry Hey (bekannt durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit David Bowie, Empire of the Sun, Jeff "Tain" Watts) und Bassist Michael League (Grammy-prämierter Leiter von Snarky Puppy), hat sich Forq weiterentwickelt und umfasst nun Gitarristen wie Chris McQueen (Snarky Puppy, Bokanté) oder Jordan Peters (Jon Batiste, Bokanté, Lauryn Hill), Schlagzeuger Jason "JT" Thomas (bekannt für seine Arbeit mit Roy Hargrove’s RH Factor, Marcus Miller, Snarky Puppy, Mark Lettieri Trio) und Bassist Kevin Scott (Government Mule, Wayne Krantz, Col. Bruce Hampton).
