Mit EB Davis & the Superband können wir mit Stolz behaupten einen der wegweisendsten in Deutschland tätigen Bluesmusiker gemeinsam mit seiner Band präsentieren zu dürfen! Der inzwischen sogar offizielle “Blues-Botschafter des Staates Arkansas” prägte die Geschichte der Bluesmusik in Deutschland wie kein zweiter. Freuen Sie sich auf authentische Bluesmusik allererster Güte.

Geboren im Arkansas-Delta, aufgewachsen in der damals brodelnden Blues-Metropole Memphis zog es ihn, wie viele Musiker aus den Südstaaten in den 60er Jahren Richtung Norden: nach New York. Hier gründet er seine erste eigene Band: die “Soulgroovers”, mit denen er quer durch die Vereinigten Staaten tourt. Schnell machen sie sich einen Namen und teilen die Bühne mit Stars wie Wilson Pickett, Isaac Hayes, Millie Jackson oder B.B. King. Nach Auflösung der Band kommt er als Mitglied der ‘Drifters’ Anfang der 80er Jahre erstmals nach Europa. Stationiert als Soldat in West-Berlin trat er weiterhin auf und spielte als einer der wenigen Künstler auch auf ostdeutschen Bühnen, sogar vor sowjetischen Soldaten und lieferte mit seiner Musik einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Verständigung der Parteien westlich und östlich des eisernen Vorhangs. Sein Bestreben war von Erfolg gekrönt, jahrelang tourte er als Frontmann der “Bayou-Blues-Band”, mitunter sogar als Support-Act für Ray Charles, bis er in den 90er Jahren in Berlin seine international erstklassig besetzte “Superband” gründete mit der er zahlreiche CDs einspielte und mit der er bis heute unterwegs ist.

Mit der ihm gewidmeten Dokumentation “How Berlin Got The Blues” wurde dem Ausnahmemusiker ein würdiges Denkmal gesetzt.

Born in the Arkansas Delta, he grew up in the then bubbling blues metropolis of Memphis and, like many musicians from the southern states, headed north in the 1960s: to New York. It was here that he founded his first band: the "Soulgroovers", with whom he toured across the United States. They quickly made a name for themselves and shared the stage with stars such as Wilson Pickett, Isaac Hayes, Millie Jackson and B.B. King. After the band broke up, he came to Europe for the first time as a member of the 'Drifters' in the early 80s. Stationed as a soldier in West Berlin, he continued to perform and was one of the few artists to play on East German stages, even in front of Soviet soldiers, making an important contribution to the understanding between the parties to the west and east of the Iron Curtain with his music. His endeavors were crowned with success, for years he toured as the frontman of the "Bayou Blues Band", sometimes even as a support act for Ray Charles, until he founded his internationally first-class "Superband" in Berlin in the 90s, with which he recorded numerous CDs and with which he is still on the road today.

The documentary "How Berlin Got The Blues" dedicated to him is a worthy memorial to this exceptional musician.
