Sundays at the Zig Zag is the closest you will get to the atmosphere, energy and ambience of the New York Jazz revolution taking place in the 30´s- 50´s. The evening features mainly young, talented jazz musicians who have contributed to the jazz boom in Berlin over the past decade. It’s intended for those of you who can appreciate the rare and fine quality of purely acoustic and unamplified music. You'll feel like you're sharing the stage with musicians who include some of the city's best and finest award-winning young talents!
Seit über 30 Jahren hat Doug die Auftritte von Künstlern wie Kevin Hays, Peter Bernstein, Mike Moreno, Lizz Wright, Brian Blade, Eddie Henderson, Clifford Jordan und Al Foster zu einem besonderen Erlebnis gemacht.
Die Band wird von Doug wie folgt beschrieben: "Béla Meinberg hat harmonischen und melodischen Geschmack und Sensibilität". Jordan Dinsdale ist ein subtiler und swingender Schlagzeuger, der die Tradition der rhythmischen Größen studiert hat". Ori Jacobson bringt einen wunderbaren Klang, Präsenz und Geschichtenerzählen mit". Ich freue mich sehr, jeden dieser bemerkenswerten jungen Musiker kennengelernt zu haben. Wir werden Interpretationen von Musik spielen, die wir alle lieben, darunter auch einige meiner eigenen Kompositionen. Um es mit den Worten meines Mentors Al Foster zu sagen: Wir wollen dem Publikum "Love, Peace, and Jazz" bringen.
ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes this evening so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. We inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!

For over 30 years Doug has made a career of elevating the performances of artists such as Kevin Hays, Peter Bernstein, Mike Moreno, Lizz Wright, Brian Blade, Eddie Henderson, Clifford Jordan and Al Foster.
