Silent Dancer is the second CAM JAZZ album by award-winning Serbian-born drummer Dejan Terzić and his regular band Axiom. As on its predecessor Prometheus Terzic blends American jazz with European folk forms and other modern sounds, producing a sound that defies easy comparison but claims the adjective... Axiomatic. Joining Terzić again are world renowned saxophonist Chris Speed, one of the most admired instrumentalists on the international jazz scene, pianist Bojan Z, and bassist Matt Penman, whose work goes beyond dependability. Together they realise Terzić’s distinctive compositions in a style that is unique and instantly recognisable.

Bojan Z - started playing piano at the age of 5. As a teenager he performed in bands in the Belgrade jazz scene, where he received an award as Best Young Jazz Musician of Yugoslavia in 1989. He moved to Paris in 1988, playing with Noël Akchoté, Julien Lourau, Magic Malik, Marc Buronfosse, Henri Texier and other renowned French musicians. On Transpacifik (2003) he started collaborating with American jazz musicians Scott Colley and Nasheet Waits, and continued on Xenophonia (2006) with Ben Perowsky and Ari Hoenig, as well as Frenchman Remi Vignolo. Bojan Zulfikarpašić was granted the title of Chevalier de l‘ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government and received the Prix Django Reinhardt for Musician of the Year from the French Académie du Jazz. In 2005 he was awarded the European Jazz Prize as the Best European Jazz Musician . www.bojanz.com

Chris Speed - Since arriving in New York in the early 1990s, Chris Speed has become one of the most vital improvising musicians on the scene through work that has always varied widely, moving from a jazz base out through various forms of folk, classical and rock music. Over the last six years the reedist has been sorting through the varied strands of his circuitous, decades-long career, using his versatile trio with bassist Chris Tordini and drummer Dave King to transform numerous curiosity-led excursions past the porous boundaries of jazz into a meticulously focused sound that ties it all together with his foundational immersion in the tradition. . www.chrisspeed.com

Originally from New Zealand, Matt Penman moved to the U.S in 1994 to attend Berklee College of Music, and in 1995 to New York, where he maintains an international performing, recording and teaching schedule as one of jazz music’s most in-demand bassists. He is an established member of the SFJazz Collective, an 8-piece composer ’s collective devoted to presenting the original works of its members as well as arrangements of the jazz greats‘ oeuvre. In 2009, Matt founded a collaborative quartet with Joshua Redman, Aaron Parks and Eric Harland called James Farm. In addition to his main projects, Matt performs regularly with John Scofield; in trio and in quartet with Joe Lovano He is featured on well over 100 recordings on various labels. www.mattpenman.com
