ARAB SONG - Die Rückkehr einer Legende

Wenn eine Konzertreihe über drei Jahre hinweg ausverkauft ist, dann ist das schon eine kleine Sensation. Die Rede ist vom legendären Arab Song, der früher in der Werkstatt der Kulturen stattfand und nun im Zigzag Jazzclub ein neues Zuhause mit optimaler Atmosphäre gefunden hat. Unter der Leitung des marokkanischen Oud-Spielers und Fusion-Musikers Alaa Zouiten können alle Musikbegeisterten eine explosiv-musikalische Hafla erleben. Hafla? Eine Hafla ist ein bisschen Party, ein bisschen transkulturelle Jamsession, ein bisschen Überraschung. Das wichtigste ist die Interaktion – zwischen Musikern auf der Bühne, zwischen Musikern und Publikum – und auch die spannende Interaktion zwischen arabischen, europäischen und Weltmusik-Sphären. Schwer zu beschreiben, muss man erleben. Eines steht fest, wir warnen Sie jetzt schon: Es macht süchtig.

Dieses mal sorgt Aficionado, eines von Alaa Zouitens Projekten mit dem fantastischen Ray Aseri im Mittelpunkt und nimmt sie mit auf eine Reise in das Spannungsfeld zwischen andalusischer Flamenco-Kultur und arabischer Musiktradition. Alaa wurde während seiner Reisen mehr und mehr davon überzeugt, dass die Verschmelzung von Flamenco und marokkanisch-maurischer Musik, die hauptsächlich von seiner Oud (Laùd) getragen wird, nicht nur machbar ist sondern mehr als das: sie konnte authentisch, natürlich und faszinierend sein! Dies veranlasste ihn, ein Album aufzunehmen, dem er den Namen AFICIONADO - Flamenco Moro gab.

Zeremonienmaster ist Alaa Zouiten, geboren in Casablanca. Dort begann seine musikalische Karriere zum Meister an der Oud, der arabischen Laute, und führte von der Ausbildung am Conservatoire National de Marrakech hin zum Sideman der Fusion- Band „Jbara“. Parallel setzte er seine musikalischen Studien fort und schloss 2013 ein Bachelor-Studium in Musikvermittlung und Philosophie an der Universität Erfurt ab. Daran schloss sich ein Masterstudium in Transcultural Music Studies an der Franz Liszt Hochschule für Musik in Weimar an. Er veröffentlichte mehrere Alben als Leader.
Weitere wichtige Stationen von Alaa Zouiten waren die musikalische Leitung und der Auftritt mit dem "Global Arabian Music Orchestra" in der Berliner Philharmonie, der Auftritt bei dem "Requiem für Syrien" in der Dresdner Philharmonie, Bienal del Flamenco in Sevilla (sept 2020), die Tourneen von "TALKING OUD 2020/2021" in Frankreich, Deutschland, Spanien und Marokko sowie die UK-Tour mit "Making Tracks 2022".

Richard Müller absolvierte 2009 die Hamburg School of Music und erwarb 2014 seinen Bachelor of Music im Hauptfach E-Bass am Jazzinstitut Berlin (Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, UdK). Er stand bereits mit zahlreichen renommierten Größen auf der Bühne, unter anderem Marcio Doctor (NDR Big Band), Stefan Gwildis (Night of the Proms), Franz Wittenbrink (St. Pauli Theater Hamburg), Ina Müller und der Band "Großstadt Freunde" mit Jay Khan (ZDF Fernsehgarten u.ä.). Außerdem spielt er unter anderem im Berliner Wintergarten, bei Angelika Mann und bei Uwe Steimle und tourt regelmäßig für die Konzertdirektion Landgraf mit den Shows “Motown goes Christmas” und “Hommage an Udo Jürgens”. Mit seinem eigenen Trio „Spaceinvaders“, begeistert er seine Zuhörer mit einer verspielten Mischung aus Jazzrock, Fusion und freier Improvisation.

Naoufal Montassere ist ein marokkanischer Gitarrist, der eine einzigartige Fusion aus Flamenco & Latin-Gitarre mit orientalischen Einflüssen spielt ohne dabei die Essenz jedes einzelnen Stils zu verlieren. Aufgewachsen in einem musikalischen Umfeld hatte er die Chance mit vielen namhaften nationalen und internationalen Künstlern zu spielen, was seine künstlerische Entwicklung und seinen Sound stark beeinflusste. Seine Leidenschaft und Offenheit es ihm die verschiedenen Sprachen der Gitarre in seinen Kompositionen zum Ausdruck zu bringen und dadurch einen authentischen und originellen Klang zu entwickeln. Insbesondere die emotionale Tiefe, seine multikulturellen Einflüsse und der kreative, freie Geist, der sich in seinem Spiel wiederspiegelt, machen ihn zu einer ganz besonderen Entdeckung.

Antonio “Pumuki” Moreno wurde 1972 in Cieza (Murcia) geboren. Sehr früh fühlte er eine intensive Bindung zu den Künsten, vor allem zur Musik. Ende der 80er Jahre wurde er Mitglied einer Band von sechs Künstlern, die eigene Kompositionen spielten. Antonio zog nach Madrid, um Soundtechnik zu studieren. Dort kam er mit der Flamencoszene der Hauptstadt in Kontakt und begann, als Soundtechniker und auch manchmal als Percussionist für sie zu arbeiten: Enrique Morente, Raimundo Amador, Tomatito, Diego "el Cigala", Estrella Morente, Josemi Carmona, Jorque Pardo, Carles Benavent, Piraña, Bandolero und Chano Domínguez zählten zu diesen Flamencokünstlern. Ab dem Jahr 2000 arbeitete Antonio als Percussionist und Schlagzeuger verschiedener Flamencogrößen der Madrider Szene zusammen und wirkte dabei an der Aufnahme von 15 CD’s mit, zum Teil auch mit Kompositionen und als Musikproduzent.

When a concert series is sold out for three years, it is already a small sensation. This time Aficionado, one of Alaa Zouiten's projects with the fantastic Ray Azeri, takes center stage and takes you on a journey into the tension between Andalusian flamenco culture and Arabic music tradition. During his travels, Alaa became more and more convinced that the fusion of flamenco and Moroccan-Moorish music, mainly carried by his oud (laùd), was not only feasible but more than that: it could be authentic, natural and fascinating! This prompted him to record an album, which he named AFICIONADO - Flamenco Moro.

Their repertoire consists mainly of traditional Moroccan music, including Gnawa, Malhoun and Chaabi, but also Algerian Rai music. For several years Redha Bendib (percussion & vocals), Miloud Messabih (percussion, accordion & vocals), Belbachir Youssef (vocals) have been playing together in several projects, representing the North African region at numerous cultural events in Germany. The different nationalities and musical influences have helped to create a very diverse palette of North African music.

Richard Müller graduated from the Hamburg School of Music in 2009 and earned his Bachelor of Music degree in electric bass at the Jazzinstitut Berlin (Hanns Eisler Academy of Music, UdK) in 2014.he has already performed on stage with numerous renowned artists, including Marcio Doctor (NDR Big Band), Stefan Gwildis (Night of the Proms), Franz Wittenbrink (St. Pauli Theater Hamburg, Ina Müller and the band "Großstadt Freunde" with Jay Khan (ZDF Fernsehgarten, etc.). Naoufal Montassere is a Moroccan guitarist who plays a unique fusion of Flamenco & Latin guitar with oriental influences without losing the essence of each style. Growing up in a musical environment, he had the chance to play with many renowned national and international artists, which greatly influenced his artistic development and sound. His passion and openness allow him to express the different languages of the guitar in his compositions, developing an authentic and original sound. In particular, the emotional depth, his multicultural influences and the creative, free spirit reflected in his playing make him a very special discovery.

Antonio "Pumuki" Moreno was born in Cieza (Murcia) in 1972. Very early on, he felt an intense connection to the arts, especially music.
