Sebastian Studnitzky - trumpet (DE)
Uri Gincel - piano (IL)
Paul Kleber - bass (DE)
Moritz Baumgärtner - drums (DE)

These four monumental musicians come together from very different aspects of jazz to create something new, playing tunes from the great American song book and original tunes by band members, maintaining a focus on creativity and communication while bravely thriving for new colors and sounds. Each of the musicians on stage is a band leader and has a name for himself on his own, making this a magnificent spectacle for the audience as they travel together with the band to old and new places.

Sebastian Studnitzky - internationally acclaimed and awarded trumpet and piano soloist Sebastian Studnitzky is a traveler who moves with tremendous comfort among classical, jazz, electronic and pop music, creating his own personal musical imprint. Being a multifarious personality with a minimal, clear and totally sentimental style, he has the talent to drag the audience into his rhythm and to create special
musical experiences.

Uri Gincel is one of the most in demand and respected Jazz pianists in Berlin. Uri´s style can be described as heavily rooted in tradition but with sensibility and understanding of bringing jazz into the modern age. His playing is dynamic, lyrical and above full of energy and power! Born in Tel-Aviv, Gincel came to Berlin in 2009 and quickly became an influential part of the Jazz scene, Uri toured the world with many projects, including "Uri Gincel Trio” and “Bonaparte” and studied under some major musicians as Arnie Lawrence and Walter Blending Jr.

Paul Kleber was born in Berlin/Germany and started playing cello and drums as a young kid, before he chose his main instrument, the double bass. He studied classical double bass at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin and jazz, too at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
He played and recorded with Jazzanova, Sebastian Studnitzky, British band Fink, Micatone, Nylon, JazzIndeed and Lisa Bassenge.
As a sideman he accompanied many artists i.e. Dee Dee Bridgewater, Mark Murphy, Emiliana Torrini, Nina Hagen, Nils Landgren, David Friedman and Nightmares On Wax.

Moritz Baumgärtner is one of Germanys most busy and most acclaimed drummers. He is touring frequently with his own bands and many other projects: p.E Melt Trio, Lisbeth Quartett, Johanna Borchert Band, TAU – Gropper/Eldh/Zoubeck, Das Rosa Rauschen, Christian Weidner Trio, Mats Spillmann Trio, Johannes Bigge Trio, Johannes Finks Ammoniaphone feat. Greg Cohen, Uri Gincel Trio, Frittenbude, Arne Jansen Trio , Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, Bonaparte, Saroos, The Eclectic Moniker and many more... His music also took him to USA, Southamerica, Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Mexico, China, Russia, Ukraine, Haiti, Norway, Rumania, Denmark, Sweden, UK... You can find Moritz on over 40 different records on international labels (Traumton, Enja, Clang, Sony, Warner, Staatsakt, Audiolith...) as a jazzdrummer and improviser but also as a pop/rock drummer.

Sitzplatzreservierung

IMPORTANT: The time you book your reservation for is the beginning of the concert! Please make sure to arrive at the club in time, but at least 15min before the concert starts, as we allocate seats on a first-come-first-serve basis. Arriving too late (less than 15min before the concert) may cause that your seats will be no longer available, especially when the concert is booked out.

In order to comply with the current distance and hygiene regulations, we will from now on present 2 shows per evening with a changing audience, as it is also common in cities like New York and London. This will create a very special, intimate and familiar atmosphere for you and us through the resulting new room layout with sofas and upholstered chairs distributed throughout the entire room and will ensure an even more intense and electrifying live music experience, which you will be able to enjoy more than ever before!

Reservations are limited due to social distance regulations.

We ask for your understanding that due to the newly regulated room layout, group reservations are more likely to receive a seat with a table than single person reservations. Thank you very much

(Our team has been thoroughly informed about the hygiene regulations. Please take note that we strictly adhere to the hygiene regulations and distance instructions).

ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!

EINTRITT
