George has one of the fattest saxophone sounds that I know of ---- he plays Coltrane's euphoric jazz as well as Freddie Hubbard's sassy funk tunes with ease and passion. Ramani, together with Tilman create an underlying carpet of groove.... almost like a Time Machine. We call ourselves Marlomusic and we play funk, bluesy standards, bossas and lots of crazy originals. So come on down for a night to groove to.
MARQUE LOWENTHAL pianist was born in the Boston/USA. He is a Berlin resident since many years he is one of the best pianists in Germany. He played with Birelli Lagree, Tony Scott, Ernie Watts and many others. He is a Sony recording artist with Lyambiko Quartett with whom he has played over 500 concerts in Germany, Europe and The US.
Tilman Person, born in 1969, started playing classical piano as a child and switched to drumming in his teens. He studied jazz drums in Berlin with Jerry Granelli, Billy Hart , David Ftiedman and Uli Moritz.
Since then he has worked as a freelance musician playing all sorts of styles. He has played with Wolfgang Schlüter, Wolfgang Köhler, Hector Martignon, Lyambiko and many others.

In Bangalore, Indien geboren und beeinflussed von... Stanley Clarke, Paul McCartney, Eddie Jefferson, Bill Evans, Ben Sidran, um nur ein paar wenige aufzuzählen. RAMANI KRISHNA reiht sich heute unter den führenden Bassisten der Berliner Szene ein. Bevor er nach Berlin kam, arbeitete er als freiberuflicher Musiker in Indien, Israel, Ägypten, Kenia und Zypern. Das Bassspielen hat er sich selbst beigebracht und seine Erfahrungen mit verschieden ethnischen Musikgruppen auf Tourneen erweitert.
Unter anderem hat er mit Maynard Ferguson, Clifford Adams, Greg Phillinganes, Clifford Jarvis, Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett , The Jackson Singers und John Lee Hooker jr. Seit 2009 spielt er mit Aly Keita’s Magic Ballaphone.

EINTRITT
Einer der Gründe, die den Zig Zag Jazzclub so einzigartig machen, ist, dass er der erste und einzige Jazzclub der Welt ist, dem es gelingt nur durch freiwilligem Eintritt/Crowdfunding Events von Weltklasse zu finanzieren. Und wie machen wir das? Ganz einfach. Während der Konzertpause geben wir bekannt, dass wir Geld einsammeln werden. Bei den meisten Konzerten (außer Jam Sessions) informieren wir unsere Kunden, dass ein Beitrag von ungefähr 15 Euro es uns erlaubt die Musiker gerecht zu bezahlen. Manche geben dabei mehr und andere weniger... und das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir haben auf diese Weise schon Hunderte Konzerte organisiert.
ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
