The Zig Zag is proud to announce a brand new and fresh Sunday concert series that showcases a community of jazz artists responsible for bringing about an explosion of energy and life into the Berlin jazz scene. The series will feature some of the most in demand, highly skilled and exciting young jazz talents in the scene today. These young masters have taken the jazz scene by surprise by packing in the clubs and bringing back to life a love and passion for hard swinging music. Performances are completely acoustic with little to no amplification. Subtle interaction, melodic focus and soulful virtuosity is at play here. If you’re interested in listening to some of the finest swinging sounds of jazz this is not an event to miss out on.
On this special night at ZigZag Jazzclub, you can enjoy the iconic sound-combination of trumpet and tenor saxophone in a classic jazz quintet formation. Jazz-Heavyweights of the Blue-Note-era, like Clifford Brown & Harold Land, Kenny Dorham & Hank Mobley, Miles Davis & John Coltrane, were the ones who infected us all with that unforgettable sound, the ideal blending of both of those instruments characteristics.
Florian Menzel on trumpet and Markus Ehrlich on saxophone have been sharing the stage throughout the years in many different ensembles, most notably with their group "The Major Minors". With Christian von der Goltz on piano, Tom Berkmann on bass and Fabian Roesch on drums, they chose a fantastic rhythm section, that's swings equally powerful and tasteful.
