MUSICAL MOMENTS
Deborah has enjoyed participating in and creating many unique musical situations….among these (in no particular order) are….A quintet recording with trombonist Slide Hampton. A concert tour in duo with Roger Kelloway. Another highlight, a duo performance and recording with guitarist, Joe Beck. Also with pianist, Dorthy Donegan on a festival in Holland. A performance with trumpetist, Clark Terry. A studio recording of the cd “A Lover’s Question” with author James Baldwin. Tours with her quartet “Jazz 4 Jazz”, that featured pianist Horace Parlan, Red Mitchell or Hein Van De Geijn on acoustic bass and legendary drummer Ed Thigpen. Concert appearances with Johnny Griffin, Benny bailey, Billy Mitchell, Michelle Le Grand, “Toots” Thielemans, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Bobby Shew, Kenny Drew, Roy Hargrove, Eric Reeds Trio, The Doky Brothers and so many more jazz greats. Her latest cd was recorded with the fine saxophonist, Bobby Watson on “All Too Soon”. A concert performance and a future recording with Lee Konitz.

Sylwester Ostrowski is a rare case in the Polish artistic world. He successfully combines the role of music - jazz saxophonist with culture animation, including the creation of the Szczecin Jazz Festival. He has recorded with American jazz vocalist Deborah Brown and toured alongside genres like Bobby Watson, Wynton Marsalis and Keyon Harrold. The hospitality that Sylwester provides to artists, partners, and guests when visiting Szczecin is legendary, and most recently his collaborations have been with Keyon Harrold, Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center, Deborah Brown, Piotr Wojtasik, Bobby Watson, Darius Brubeck, Miki Hayama, Newman T. Baker, Wayne Dockery, Essiet Okon Essiet, Yakov Okun, Anders Bergcrantz, Eric Allen, Freddie Hendrix, Dorota Miskiewicz, and the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. Internationally, Sylwester has performed at numerous international jazz world music festivals as well as in jazz renowned jazz clubs globally, such as the Jazz Sister Cities Inaugural Concert in Kansas City, MO USA; Szczecin Jazz in Szczecin, Poland; Jazz on the Dnieper in Dnipro, Ukraine; Yamaha Ginza Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Safaricom International Jazz Festival in Nairobi, Kenya and the Blue Note in New York, USA.

Ostrowski refers to The Jazz Brigade as a “multicultural artistic dialogue,” and indeed the personnel hail from all over the world. Ostrowski is from Poland and drummer Eric Allen is originally from Washington D.C. USA but currently resides in Poland. Trumpeter Freddie Hendrix hangs out in New Jersey. Pianist Miki Hayama, originally from Japan, is based in New York. Bassist Essiet Okon Essiet, also New York-based, is a native Nigerian. It is truly an assemblage of musicians representing diverse American East and West Coast, European, British, African, and Japanese influences. The resulting music has many roots. It makes a strong statement, and it provides great listening.

EINTRITT

ENTRANCE FEES
One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a fee of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!
