His “Belgian All-Stars” band performs a 21st century “film noir” soundtrack. The unusual meeting between guitar and cello is instantly natural. Jeanfrançois Prins and Sébastien Walnier share the taste for the moment, the syncretism of universes, the mixing of timbres, the energy of sound, and the sensuality of groove. They are surrounded by a highly flexible and interactive rhythm section.

Their repertoire made of original compositions and arrangements suggests the world of classics by Hitchcock and Kurosawa, as well as those of Tarantino and the Coen brothers.

A word about the members of the band:

Belgium’s most international jazz guitarist, Jeanfrançois Prins was simultaneously based in NYC and Berlin for more than 20 years. He has worked extensively all over the world with such artists as Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler, Billy Hart, Ivan Lins, Toots Thielemans, Randy Brecker, Gene Jackson, Eddie Gomez, Judy Niemack, Adam Nussbaum, Jay Anderson, Darmon Meader (NY Voices), Kirk Lightsey, Joe La Barbera, Kenny Werner, Fred Hersch, Kelvin Sholar, etc…

Beside being the solo cellist at the world reknowed opera house of “La Monnaie” in Brussels, and having a busy international chamber music career, Sébastien improvises on the cello in several styles of the jazz idiom.

Vincent Bruyninckx is a rising star in the Belgian jazz world. He has been working with all the top players of the scene there and is often involved with world music and pop projects, both as an acoustic pianist and as a keyboard player.

Master bassist Bart de Nolf worked with Vaya Con Dios, Toots Thielemans, Peter Erskine, Andy Sheppard, Khadja Nin, Philip Catherine, Shirley Bassey, Deborah Brown...

Drummer extraordinaire Bruno Castellucci performed and recorded with Chaka Khan, Jaco Pastorius, Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Frisell, Jan Akkermann, Chet Baker, John Scofield, Sammy Davis, Jr, and many, many more!…

ENTRANCE FEES

One of the reasons that makes the zig zag jazz club so unique is that it is the first and only jazz club in the world that manages to finance world class events through a donation/crowd funding concept. How do we do it? Its quite simple… during the break of the concert we make an announcement regarding the collection for the evening. For most concerts (excluding the jam session) we inform our customers that a donation of around 15€ per person will allow us to fairly compensate the musicians. Some people give more and some give less… and that´s ok… we ´ve already successfully promoted hundreds of concerts like this!!!

EINTRITT
