Martha Mavroidi's Akustik Trio spielt traditionelle griechische Musik, Tanzmusik von den Ägäischen Inseln und Lieder aus Kleinasien. Außerdem präsentiert das Trio Marthas Eigenkompositionen. Martha Mavroidi ist eine Sängerin, Lautistin und Komponistin aus Griechenland. Sie singt und spielt Laute seit ihrer frühen Kindheit, nämlich die traditionelle Musik ihrer Heimat und den Balkanländern. Zugleich entwickelte sich auch ein ausgeprägtes Interesse an zeitgenössischer Musik, die Elemente der traditionellen Musik mit modernen Harmonien und Improvisationstechniken vereinend. Ihr von der Kritik gefeiertes Debütalbum "The Garden of Rila" etablierte sie als eine erstklassige Musikerin und Sängerin der neuen Generation traditioneller Musik. Marthas außergewöhnliche Stimme verbindet die akustische Ornamentik und mikrotonalen Feinheiten Griechenlands sowie des Mittleren Ostens, mit dem Farbenreichtum bulgarischen Gesangs. Ihre schillernde Technik beim Spiel der Lafta und der Saz, wird oft verglichen mit den Kunstfähigkeiten der grossen Virtuosen der Jazz und Welt Musik. Im März 2013, presentierte das fRoots Magazin sie als "Rising Star der Balkan Musik" auf der Titelseite.
Martha Mavroidi's Acoustic Trio plays folk music from Greece; dance tunes from the Aegean Islands and songs from Asia Minor. Martha's music background is deeply rooted in folk traditions but she also steps forward to create new music from the old material. Songs from the past blend with new compositions in a concert that celebrates Greek folk music and its affinity with the vocal heritage of the Balkans and the modal traditions of the Middle East. Martha Mavroidi is a singer, lutist and composer from Greece. She has been singing and playing folk lutes from her childhood, performing music from Greece and the Balkans. Later she developed an interest in contemporary music, blending elements of folk music with contemporary harmony and improvisation. Her critically acclaimed debut album "The Garden of Rila" established her as a first class folk musician and singer of the new generation, as well as an accomplished composer and orchestrator. Martha's extraordinary voice combines the Greek and Middle Eastern ornaments and microtonal subtleties, with the rich colors of Bulgarian singing. Her dazzling technique on the lafta and the saz, is often compared to the skills of master musicians of both folk and jazz origin. In March 2013 she featured in the cover of fRoots magazine as "Balkan music's rising star". She has participated in various world and contemporary music projects in Europe and the United States. With her trio, she has toured around Europe, and has performed at World Music Expo (WΟΜΕΧ) Globalkan Scene in 2012. Since 2013 Martha is the artistic director of Tinos World Music Festival.
